DJ sets that mix genres?

Hey guys I was wondering if you could give me some sets examples with djs that have mixed genres and made it sound awesome. I've noticed that more and more the lines between different genres are getting blured more and more. Genres I am especially looking for is progressive, trance, hard trance, uplifting/melodic trance, house, and hard house. I own almost all of these music types and I just can't seem to break myself away from the others to focus on just particularly one to play so I need examples of people that did it successfully.

Thanks,

Weymouth

Quite easy: the more skilled a DJ is, the more different tunes he can play without ruining the set (bad dj's usually play the same thing all night long, because they actually believe people are so high that they don't remember what the previous tune was like :D j/k).

I've got a set from Yoji Biomehanika (from trance valley 2001) in which he plays hard house, nrg, uplifting trance, hardstyle and something else I forgot (did he play techno?). Nice combo, in my opinion.

I've got CD from DJ Gruv (a Russian DJ not really famous in other countries) that blends trance, house and breaks, but it's quite hard to get info on him, I guess :(

hhmm... Paul Van Dyk sometimes blends techno (and house?) with his usual trance.

My hint: look for DJ's based on your personal taste (big dj's don't have to be your favourite ones, keep it in mind). You might find a local DJ who mixes prog and hard house in a way that you might like, for example. That's all I've got to say - look for the hidden gems :)

Paul Van Dyk tries to do it and does a horrid job

Adam Freeland...virtually can play rock along breaks and still sounds phat

Marco V is another...can play techno and trance with ease

tiesto CANNOT

John Askew also plays techno and trance easily

James Lavelle is another..he plays a wide variety of genres

John Digweed live plays a wide variety of genres...tech house, prog, house, banging house...ambiant

same with sander kleinenberg.

I'm just kidding, Andy :) Although I kinda like it when, out of the blue, he drops a techno tune that wasn't really supposed to be there and it makes you wonder...

*starts wondering*

... never mind :p

if you want some really good albums that mix alot of genre's

check out James Lavelle's GU Barcelona. The first CD is my favorite. the CD is all over the place and keeps pumping all the way through. absolutly awsome.

Danny Howell's new GU 24:7 is also really awsome. I also prefer the first CD in this album. Its more ambient and chilled out. the second CD is awsome too and more dancey.

PvD does a very good job at blending genres. TTA is clinically insane don't mind him. :P lol Tiesto and blending genres? Naw....meh...Armin's good at it with prog (SOME prog tracks he throws in really fit well) also when I saw Ferry @ a party here he threw in some breaks and some techno ish tracks into his set, it was VERY good, unlike the time before that where all he played was trance.

I am a local in Texas. However... I useually play Trance / Prog. I have lately been into mixing: Trance Into Breaks and into Drum n Bass. Which is pretty fun!

Just make it sound good bro!

peace

Andy listen to his set he did @ XXL Clubnight 2003, tell me that wasn't genres mixed well? It's not like when he switched it was a complete shock to the listener/clubgoer.
