Aite to follow on the LTJ Bukem trip, he's en wicked...him n Conrad on Progression Sessions Vol. 3, 4 and 5 are just beautiful (even the recent ones bar 8 have been absolutely unreal as well!!!). LTJ Bukem's solo albums, Journey Inwards, Producer 01 and Producer 05 are also blinders - Journey Inwards especially. In this he just plays around with various breaks n styles - tempo varying from tune to tune. Favs of Bukems would be Watercolours, Viewpoint, Sunrain, Inner Guidance, Close To The Source - all off Journey Inwards. Then you got Demons Theme, Music, Atlantis, Coolin Out and Moodswings - all off Producer 01.
But don't just leave it at Bukem. On the same atmospheric tip is alotta stuff off the label Moving Shadow. Two label compilations from MS are "Storm From the East Vol. 1 & 2". Both an sublime example of the talent and depth the label has.
Recently Bukem's label GLO has been movin more up-beat...less atmospheric and more a live-jazzy feel (the turning point began at Progression Sessions Vol. 6) Bukem's favourite man at the moment is Makoto - even got him to mix PS9 with Deeizm on vocals. Makoto's album "Human Elements" is some nice, fun dnb, along with his EP on GLO featuring the tracks "Music Has Never Let Me Down", "MC Conrad - Futures Call (Makoto Mix)", "Inside Your Love", "You Make Me Feel" --- all ing wicked tunes. The new track that Makoto did with MC Conrad titled "Golden Girl" is also a ing blinder. Suprisingly fresh amen break with some soulful keys goin around the top, coupled with Conrads beautiful lyrics n voice make this unreal.
Also check out Blu Mar Ten, PFM, Big Bud, J-Laze, Seba, Nookie, Axis (all have releases on GLO), then also Calibre, Electrosoul System (h**p://www.reinforced.org/~andyf/electrosoul_system_dinamitfm_live_mix.mp3 is one unreal set!!), Omni Trio, Wax Doctor...some labels you should definetly check out as well: Testflight, Cov Ops, Warm Communications, Camino Blue, Nu Directions, Cadence...bah i'm out!! |

| I'm not totally sure this is what you're looking for but take a look at Dom & Roland, a track that comes to mind is 'Future Life' which, in my opinion, is both intelligent and atmospheric. |

Intelligent D&B?:wtf:
Does that exist? - I mean, I know of "Intelligent Dance Music" & "Drill & Bass" and even the jazzy: "Spunk Jazz" but Intelligent Drum & Bass makes no sence to me:conf: Perhaps you were just referring to some very chilled version of IDM? |

I'm really getting into Oakenfold's GU004: Oslo right now - that has a lot of excellent DnB on the first disc (great ambient trance on the second). It's not really 'dirty' DnB in the traditional sense - it has a certain atmospheric refinement to it, so I guess it might be considered "intelligent". Artists such as Jamie Myerson have never failed to impress me. :toocool:
Or maybe I don't know anything, and I'm just a very well-rounded n00b. :stongue: |
