I agree with most things your saying Joeh as I too ing hate UK Garage it does me nut in however.....
| quote: | | These UK Garage 'stars' grew up in reasonably nice areas of London, yet claim the places they grew up are worse than Compton or the Bronx... and it just isnt true. |
The first line you said there is complete bull mate. Reasonable? Have you ever been to Brixton, Peckham, Deptford etc? The areas were they come from are ing rough and I've been to plenty of rough areas in my time, and I tell you one thing South London ain't ing hot at all, its easy to get murdered or mugged down there.
However I agree with the part on how people make out the areas are like Compton but the areas are ing rough though, however the fans especially the white middle class fans walk around acting as if their black and act as if their from some ghetto. |

Please no make it stop.
I bought one UK Garage album ages ago and listened to it for about a month. I think I was about 14, right when it was all blowing up. Then I realised the vast vast vast majority of tunes were absolute dog e.
Never again. |

Brixton = HOLE....reasonable area

or fast Hip Hop :p
and Brixton is sooooo not as bad as people make it out to be. I'm down there quite often, cos i've got family there and its not like you'll get robbed walking down the street! |

Why do People Get shot its simple tta Knobheads from areas with Reputation + Easy access to firearms + A Club full of people simular to themselves = Someone ends up getting shot its that simple.
lol I know what your saying though Lam it ain't as bad there is probably worse areas however there is some nasty estates near there, my mum has a supplier in Brixton (No she's not a Drugs Baron) and she says she walks through the market its quite intimidating sometimes however she says the people there are great their friendly and Helpfull, Its just the rough estates that give it the rep. |

yeh defo. I love the Market. The main road, Coldharbour lane is the best place of all time. The Fridge club is meant to hold some well good trance nights as does the Acadamey
one day my mate and i went down there to pick up my cousin, and he drives a Black done up BMW with a nice £3k soundsystem, it was quite amusing the looks of amazement we were getting, considering as he is small and white, rather than big and black haha. |

I read an interview once when one of the So Solid Crew compared where he grew up, Battersea, to Compton. My entire family on one side is from there so its nothing like he made out.
No areas of London are ever going to be as bad as the worse areas of America, due to us having less gun crime/free health care and I think I would be right in thinking these areas have higher employment rates/ higher wages compared to America
EDIT: (not america in general, american run down type areas) |

Yes i am aware that some areas arent 'resonable', but loads of these garage/rap commerical acts arent actually from the rough areas.
Puff Daddy/P Diddy whatever he's called > went to private school
Tim Westwood > Went to private school, father was a bishop ffs.
and with my very limited knowledge of 'urban' styles of music i can say list those 2, im sure theres more. |
