VMA kiss rant

I usually love it when girls kiss, but for some reason I can't get excited. One thing I almost love more than life itself is truth. Obviously it was planned stunt to attract more attention. To me this is an exclamation point on MTV drug like dependence on style, flash, and sex to shamelessly promote itself.
Female artists are in an all out competition to out do one another by finding new more spectacular ways to whore themselves to restart their careers or secure a better position on the pop charts. To me I find the whole mock lesbian kiss akin to blackface vaudeville. Its exploiting gay/lesbian community to titillate its mainstream heterosexual audience is hypocrisy at its height.
You know what would have been more shocking? Two women who were actually gay kissed during the VMA! Naaah that would be too real for us to stomach. Most of you will probably tell me to lighten up and that it was all just in fun. Maybe your right and maybe I've just lost my tolerance for MTV and the Pop culture it spawns. Either way I feel better getting this rant off my chest. Now I can go back to doing more important things like resorting my trance collection. :p |

I'm still more worried about the 11-year-old Britney fans that saw it :/
It can be good (they won't have much prejudice against lesbianism in the future) or it can be bad (they'll be completely confused). Depends on the child actually. |

i don't watch MTV anymore, out of choice, no matter the subject they air.
People boycotted Pepsi for a while because of their choice to promote with gangster rappers. I was part of this and wow, less than a week later, pepsi felt the impact and discontinued that marketing scheme.
I hope that I, or maybe even WE, can send a message to MTV that what they are airing is ridiculous and FILTH for cable television |

its just a stupid publicity stunt.
don't get upset about it, enjoy its comical value.
feel bad for the people who work for media and who watch it all the time who obsess over it.
don't let it bother you because it impacts your life only in the way that you let it. |
