hhmm, I listen to music in america and I don't like straight cuts, wierd. |

| hmmm that statement was a false accusation. i am an american and i happen to think that strait cuts and short mixes are the least impressive of all...shows no talent whats so ever. P. Oakey i believe has moved on to other things, other interests..and to keep his money flow from stopping, is continueing to DJ.. his heart, soul, and meaning is non-existant due to lack of interest IMHO. sad but tru. I saw him a few months ago in orlando and thought it was one of the worse shows i had ever seen. All he did to get the crowd going was his little praying to the sky crap with his hands and spin around in circles. Sorry but that doesnt impress me anymore. When he cared it had meaning now that he doesnt..Now its a waste of my time. |

| Well i havent heard more than 1 times the man himself but when i did..last summer in an openair fest. he had fully contact with the crowd..laughing,dancing,spotting crazy peepz etc...well i liked his set althought the trackselection wasnt as fresh as it should be...anyway his state side are more than good...and a person who knows history doesn't lose his respect for the man ;) |

Some djs stand there and look stoned, but that doesnt mean they are uninterested does it? Sasha....?
I do admit, oakenfold is probably bored from playing trance anyways. He has never stayed with one genre like other djs. oakenfold played drum and bass, goa and other genres. All around pretty skilled and talented dj, where most of his recognition came from the trance genre. |

A good proportion of his sets, well atleast radio based sets aren't actually mixed by Oakey but rather he just selects the tracks and order.
Then someone else just loads it all into Digidesign Pro-Tools and the computer does the mixing.

This is flat out wrong, Pro Tools cannot do beat matching or mixing. It's a sound editing program used to touch up the mix after it's recorded straight from the decks. I'm too lazy to use the search button, but globalgirl made this clear in a previous thread about DJs "cheating." |

oh thank you english king of trance. just because i'm american doesn't mean that i'm ignorant to the rest of the world especially the world of electronic music
and as far as oakie selling out? i don't ever recall him stating that he does it for the money, but i do remember a certain other well respected dj *cough* tiesto *cough* that recently said he does it for the sex...hmmm...people still i tiesto (and so do i before you say i just don't like tiesto) so what is the big deal.
Pvd is releasing reflections which isn't typical trance all the way through, but will we bad mouth "GOD DYK" of course not...
note: i also respect pvd before i get crap for that too |

I was at that show, Oaky rocked. Sasha and Digweed were pretyy good, but you forgot the headliner =p The Chemical Brothers put on THE best show I have ever seen. The lights and mixing were out of sight, if there was ever a live set that I want to get my hands on more than any other, that would be it. |

...:haha: :haha:
Actually, tons of DJs are spending more and more time in America packing clubs, arenas, and various venues. I guess too many clubs in the UK are closing or losing their popularty (Cream / GC / GK etc.)
And when an artist changes their style of music its called maturing not selling out, so stop flaming Oakenfold just because he's shifting and experimenting. Every good artist does it. You also have the right to either like it or not I understand that. But stop making such general accusasions and comments, makes you sound really stupid... I hate short cuts and so do all the other trance/electronic music fans I know who are also AMERICAN |

| I'm sure the goa fans were really pissed when Oakenfold switched to cheesy uplifting & melodic trance. You need to let artists move on and not be so up in arms about it. |
