In my opinion, I think Oakenfold is a horrible dj/producer. I think he is over paid and a total sell out. Granted he had his moments as being a good dj. I mean just listen to Tranceport. That cd was off the hook. I saw him and Dave Ralph spin together when it first came out. Anymore, his stuff is horrible. He is trying to hard to accomidate to American pop culture. Not to mention, didn't anyone read about how he stole production rifs from BT? Just thought I would put my two cents in...peace

I love Oakenfold like an older brother, but I saw him about two months ago and he ed up like three times, as a matter of fact the last song on the breakdown he took out the bass and then forgot to bring it back whenthe beat hit. I know this not only because i was there but I was all of 7 feet away. No one noticed but us and a few djs, but still I think it was unacceptable. Although where I still think Oakey has it is with track selection. Im sorry there just isnt anyone better IMO. He disgs up old stuff, he finds new stuff, I mean he covers all genres of trance n a way. That night hen did rip it up with the tracks though. I think what it boils down to is he plays when he wants to, because Ive downloaded some sets from here in the recent year and they were good. Im actually goin to see him again on the 24, but Tiesto will be there as well for the first time in Houston, so its not a total gamble.

Oakenfold can program a mean set, but his DJing skill leaves much to be desired. He also comes off as being pretty arrogant, which is a quality I don't care for, whether you are a superstar DJ or not.

I have heard some of Oakies new stuff and it is still great. Maybe not as good as his prime stuff. But still good.

has to be the worst insult ever.
If you can't think of an intelligent reply, then just leave alone. Calling someone a 'n00b' just makes you look really, really stupid.
 |

k oakey drops some sets that can be crud from time to time, but the man is a trance forerunner, a pioneer and an excelent producer, perfecto houses many classic trance tunes, some of the best singers (jan johnston) and the imense things oakenfold has done for trance are amazing, i find often i download things by oakey then revert back to him later he is almost ahead of his time often enough, oakenfold presents kicks ass every weekend, i am not sure if he is mixing that himself, he often has flop sets nothing new it has been that way since he began, but sets are not the only thing the man does, can anyone remember a Song called southern sun FFS, tranceport, and countless other albums, 99 he was amazing, now he is trying to explore, let the man be jeese when is the last time you signed someone to your record label, worked on finding more artists, likely while working on some new material, then went out to do a set as well. The man has done to much for trance to deserve bashing like this, he will retire when HE feels it is time to retire and no one else should have the right to demand it of him cause of an off night or two
