| So Paul is spining for only an hour????? Hmmm...i am coming from school for this...my buddy lives a couple minutes from HOB so we're hitting this up. But man, 35$ for 1 hour of Paul? thats not really worth the money |

Why in God's name would they book so many of their schlub DJs that nobody wants to hear when they know that they only have 3 and a half hours in total? Why wouldn't they just book one and the headliner? |
Have you ever gone to a concert and had no idea who the opener was, but after hearing them you kinda liked their stuff. You had no choice in the matter of hearing the opener unless you leave your seat/spot etc... so you are kinda forced to hear them play.
It's kinda the same concept with this show. Pure knows it's going to be a sellout show and will be packed like sardines even before Paul comes on to play. They are basically making people who would normally not go out to just listen to one of the openers play somewhere locally or have never heard them ever and listen to what they are about. Most people are like DAMN, I didn't know this person was this good! Now, since you have liked what you heard... you are more apt to go to a local show with that DJ playing. Basically they are marketing locals at a huge show. get it?

As someone who's been going to clubs, raves, and shows for over a decade, yes I know how this works. Unfortunately these DJs play all the time all over town and all play boring prog or house, nothing remotely like what Paul plays. Again, if there were one (or two, if your theory about HOB somehow doing what they've never done in my experience and actually making use of their ability to close at 5am) opener or openers this might make sense.
Still waiting for a response from the pure boys...
Woohoo did I snag the 100th reply? |

yeah no kidding....I'm flying the biz-jet in from Portland, OR...It'd be a huge waste of time and jet fuel if it's not 2+ hours of tunes by PVD....I can see local talent locally..not half way 'cross the country.
grr @ having to fly last night during the Seattle show. |

you are correct that most of these DJs do play all over town... but since they are not that big yet... Pure is force feeding them down the throats of other people who haven't heard them play. Not everyone will like them, but they are still being heard by the crowd nonetheless. I was @ the Tiesto show in May and thought they were closing @ 4am but they stayed open until 4:45 when Tiesto played his last encore. I'm sure they can do it again for PVD.
And for those who think PVD is playing only for an hour... that's not the case! PVD won't agree to any booking unless it's 2 hours + minimum. So that rumor can be tossed out the window. |

thanks for clearing things up, Seneca :)
i'm curious, PVD tix are supposed to be cheaper if you're on the PureFuture mailing list. i'm on their mailing list but i havent seen anything about the cheaper tickets and i couldn't find anything about it on their site. was there an e-mail that i missed or have they yet to send one out? i'd like to get my tix for this pretty soon, but Ticketmaster has butt-rape fees, it's ridiculous ($1 + $8.30 fees in addition to the $35 ticket price?)... if someone could let me know what the deal is with that i'd be greatly appreciative. |

They are cheaper if you have a pure card, not if you're on their list. I am a trustworthy fellow--if you'd like, I can get you tickets from the HOB box office (I'm getting Ferry tickets this week for myself) and mail them to you for face value plus the cost of a stamp, sent via paypal. This goes for anyone else that would like to save $9 as well (up to the ticket limit, that is).
Anyone interested, PM me. |
