goddammit, how many times is this going to come up in the forums? let me say it once and for all: DJ SAMMY SUCKS. If you think DJ Sammy is trance, then you should not be on tranceaddict. DJ Sammy's tracks blow and he has NOTHING on Armin or PvD, both of whom have produced some of trance's best and most classic tunes. DJ Sammy is a trashy producer, him, let him go make his "tunes" for the stupid MTV addicts and pop radio listeners.

Ah, so much to say.
Point 1:
Honestly, I've never heard a DJ Sammy track, and I never plan to. Usually the only time I check something out is when I hear about it from friends/internet reviews, or I check out the CD cover in the store.
Needles to say, everything I heard along with seeing the CD artwork satisfied, indefinately, my curiosity.
I'm sure I'm not alone here.
Point 2:
As I recall, BT, Tiesto, Oakey, PvD, and even Digweed have poured into mainstream pop here and there all over the world, if not in the United States. The basic difference here is that these prodigies have established such a huge foundation throughout electronic music, and have gotten so widely known and recognized, and so GOOD, that it's hard for them to stay out. So occasionally they pour over.
Where is Sammy's past? Where did he start? He has always designed himself as a pop artist, creating the packaging on his CD's with mainstream art, and machine-made ultra pop music. Sammy will always have his fans, but he would never have as much as if he created his OWN music, his OWN style. Look at all the contraversy Michael Jackson has gone through in his years, and yet he still has dedicated fans because he's soooo original.
So I feel all of your pain when you say Sammy isn't...good. To put it a little easier, if you like Britney's, Timberlake's, or Christina's music... then you'll probably like Sammy's.
Point 3:
PvD and AvB will go down in the books.
Do you honestly think Sammy will, Chuck?

even though im not the biggest sammy fan at all.
Its very odd that i hear someone like pvd and others really hating on this guy - sure its pop-elctronic but hes been remixed by the likes of prominant acts like: dj shog, martin eyerer, minimalistix, oliver lieb among others.
Not to say all those are that prominant... some are prominant for cheese... its just like djs to be seperated by tastes of music... cause theyve all got their own style... this, i know... in most cases is not mine. |

first off dj sammy has got to be the best producer of PURE CHEESE I HAVE EVER HEARD. dont get me wrong, some cheesy club trance is ok, but enough is enough. you cant compare dj sammy to pvd, if there were a trance bible, im sure that comparison would breach one of the ten commandments......
hes good but not nearly good enough to compare to pvd |
