What do you "focus" on when listening to tunes?

When listening to tracks, do you focus on any particular aspect of the music the most? Obviously the whole track together is what makes a good track, but is there one thing ie. the bassline, the melody, the kick drum etc...

I find I do this alot, in different tunes I focus on one channel and focus my mind on say..the hi-hats, or the mid range percussive bits, or just the bassline.

Anyone else do this?

I do this sometimes. It depends on the genre, but yeah, at times I'm tracking the bassline, or the "high-hats", etc.

im always listening to the the tracks surprises or some special effects that some producers use like , add a really long echo to the clash(listen to the build up sirooco - destination)

tracks with big surprises kill me tho :)

bassline is really important too ;d

i focus on every element individually....yes its possible... split the track in seperate channels so that each sound has its own importance

I agree with LKD.... I listen to everything at once... I seperate it by moving like my left leg with the bass... Right with the hi-hat.. etc...

Sometimes I think about the whon whon noise
Or the vocals
Or sometimes even the thump thump
Most often I think about the ssss sssss sound though
