Actually, I copied this from the maganzine itself. My friend came over from England this past weekend and brought the October MixMag with him...
There is a 3-page article/interview with Paul Van Dyk it in.
So, go get the new MixMag....????... to get the full article. |

PvD has no right to bash them, his productions aren't award winning either. "Connected (Motomix 05)" is good the first few times that main melody kicks in...but as the song progresses it is lacking something. As for other productions all I can say is "clap & hi-hats" :stongue:
He needs more depth to his tracks...they're so simple. |

Funny my favorite "trance" artist right now is Paul van Dyk and he just made fun of me calling me uneducated and stupid. HMMM...i own 5 paul van Dyk cd's and the DJ Sammy one...so what am i ???
OH YA IM SOMEONE WHO LISTENS TO NO ONE AND LIKES THE MUSIC BECAUSE MY BRAIN GOES "**KNOCK KNOCK** BOBBY YOU LIKE THIS"..
VAN DYK AND TRANCE...its just music...get over youself..
ok...im done:)
Sorry had to get that out.

So he sits there badmouthing artists whose remixes he chose to play, and then he toots his own horn over 'Connected' which is mediocre at best.
Bad choice of words here, Paul. |

Yeah but at least they have produced tracks which are noteworthy and deserve praise for creativity and freshness.
And they probably didn't rip on artists whose tracks they played themselves
Absolute hypocrit. |

he is totally right
yet he makes some pretty comercial stuff, making him not exactly the most appropriate guy to say this :\ |

tracks he does arent meant to be commercial while sammy's and other's are. but thats not the point, its all about difference between trance and dance |

This all goes back to the thing that you'll hear out of any big DJ: Genres are dumb. While Scooter and Ian van Dahl can technically be considered trance, it is not at all like the music of PvD, which is totally different than the music Tiesto, which doesn't even resemble the music of BT, which isn't the same as Max Graham...... do you see where I'm going with this?
I consider music by Ian van Dahl and other similar artists "Commercial Club Music". When I say "Commercial" I am not implying that it is good or bad, but simply that it is dance music meant to appeal to a more mainstream audience. If somebody asked me if it was "Trance" I would say "Definitely Not!" |
