yes, pvd has played dj sammy- sunlight (pulser remix).
i was at the roxy gig and i know people id'd the conjure one track but i for one didnt recall him playing it.
any how, get over it. you think you came up with some clever point? not really.
maybe if he played the original mix of sunlight.
i mean a remixed track is not its original. some remixes of bad songs are really good. so pvd played justin timberlake- rock your body (sander k mix). does that mean he likes justin timberlake? NO! it means he liked the remix of a song that was done by sander k.
similary, he liked pulser's remix. though, the pulser remix of sunlight is and okay track, it is STILL on the cheesy side and not a very good track at all. but im okay with pvd playing it here and there. its not like he's pounding it everywhere and its a favorite track of his. its just not that good. but again, in the elctronic music world, the remixer sometimes deserves more if not equal credit in production, sometimes discounting the original artist completely. |

| If everybody desribes something cheese that he or she doesnt like it wont bring up a point especially if that person is a DJ and plays the tracks(remixed or not) what he describes as cheese in his sets.Do we say he played cheese tracks so his set is cheese ? No.If you liked a track(remixed or not) and play it in your sets dont describe the producers cheese after, this is the point which i dont agree. |

| Here's how i see it...PvD is trying to save the PUBLIC name of a genre of music that is still considered UNDERGROUND (in the USA that is...not sure about other countries). But for wat?...Now i dont know whether he really wants to save the name of trance with his brand of productions or is just worried about sales money being lost to Dj sammy and IVD...i dont know whether he is on the offense or defense in this one...But he should be happy with the crowds he draws...a pvd crowd is alot different from a sammy crowd...he should know from every set he lays down how many people know the difference between trance and mainstream club music. Real trance is definately an accuired taste and it mostly starts from the "cheese" stage of listening. Its obvious how many people on this forum dont like Dj Sammy and IVD and its an UNDERSTOOD at any live set of PvD or tiesto and any other dj's that are really respected by real trancers. No reason to go public with it though. He's just bashing the gateway to his own genre of music. |

whatever dude, people like cheese. not all people, especially not in here, but in the US there are way more fans of cheese than of more crediable forms of trance. but whatever, i would much rather have people rocking out to DJ Sammy or IvD than 50cent or P. Diddy. alot of times cheese opens the door for people and gets them into more crediable trance music.
as for class tunes being over shadowed by cheese tunes..... who's fault is that? is it dj sammys fault, or louie devito's fault? i dont think so. if you want your "class tunes" to not be over shadowed by cheese ones then you have to work on converting people that listen to "cheese". help them, show them the way. dont bash them and make them feel inferior because of the type of music that they listen to. trance music fans can be some of the nicest people but at the same time they can be wicked mean and intimadating (spelling). its like "oh you like that dj sammy song.... you dont know about music, your a ing dork, get lost, go buy that new NY Underground CD."
whatever, at the end of the day its just music, its supose to be fun and enjoyable |

Paul Van Dyk- What he has to say about TRANCE in the new MixMag...
In the October 2003 MixMag, Paul Van Dyk says the following about trance:
"Trance had become a dirty word. Thanks to Ian Van Dahl, Lasgo, Flip 'N' Fill and DJ Sammy, a generation of kids has grown up thinking trance is the tiest music since country and western.
Along with Armin Van Buurren, Tiesto, and Ferry Corsten, Paul Van Dyk and tracks like 'Connected' have saved trance, steering it away from the bird-sings-over-80s-remake formula that was making trance a laughing stock, bringing it back to what it was always meant to be - ing good dancefloor music that messes with your head.
He doesn't want to piss anyone off, so he doesn't like to talk about other DJs. With one exception: Ian Van Dahl gets a kicking for being completely 'cheesy'.
Cheesy records make proper trance look bad. Of course there are people who buy DJ Sammy records. They're not the same people that buy mine." |
hasnt anybody noticed that most of this isnt even a direct quote from Paul himself? this magazine has the front cover saying that PvD is god when he himself hates that term being used about him. not to mention in almost every interview prior to this he's never called his music "trance". he has always called it Electronic Dance Music.
Most of this article is just journalistic filler with a few quotes from PvD here and there. nothing to base assumptions on. this guy has a great love of music. why the hell would he even compare Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, Himself or even DJ Sammy to any other type of music knowing that his style is not stuck to one genre. this article is garbage and i wouldnt base anything on it or even pay money to read the the entire thing. |

my hat is off at lost inhibition...Wat the article showed as a pvd quote made no sense to me...i dont know y he'd bash...if he as bashing...as i said he would just be bashing a gateway to his music.
well said ihibition. If sum1 can rewrite the article or scan it and send to me...id appreciate it...id like to read about rather hear it from other people. In grade school whenever our class would play "telephone" the message always got screwed up...no matter how simple it was...payce and luv...1 |

yes, it was NOT a quote from PvD, whoever started this thread should doublecheck their . I read the whole article and those comments about dj sammy and ian van dahl were NOT quoted from PvD, they were part of the journalist's comments. |

Agreed!
Everyone can make their own music, and there is no point bashing one another...if you dont like it, just dont listen to it. |
