| as some very clever TA pointed out...mtv in america is different than mtv in europe where you saw videos of dance valley or whatever. i'm sure you probably think that ibiza is the best place in the world and someday want to go there or maybe you've already been...and if thats the case...you'll realize that mtv is also there. i agree that mtv is crap nowadays...i used to like it a lot better when they played music videos that weren't only rap or justin timberlake...but i don't watch it anymore and thats their punishment for playing crap...they lose me as their audience. and if the rest of america wants to watch it...let them waste their time... |

| Ok, people stop telling me MTV is different in europe. I know MTV europe has a different style than MTV america, but same people who started it and same CEOs are running MTV europe as also american. Now have you seen The MTV euro award shows. I watched a recent one, it had boy bands and marylin mason. That is still pushing their core product into an area where they do not belong. |

ok well stop telling us that mtv is the devil and corrupts everything it touches. trance music has a lot bigger problems then mtv... |

i wouldnt worry about MTV corrupting electronic music. if anything it will convert more people over. people who don't know a clue about electronica will hear poppy songs, they will find it appealing then if they have alot of maturing to do, they will start to delve deep into electronica, be it house or trance or whatever and then they may get to know the good stuff. it can serve as an introduction to many people
but yeah MTV is stupid. all they put on is tripe. i don't watch it.
altho i like road rules and the real world. they have all these hot girls on and stupid people who are fun to make fun of. its entertaining |

| MTV sucks. They used to have AMP which was a real cool show which played some EDM videos. They even showed the concert I went to with Chemical Brothers & Fatboy Slim once. MTV is just all about money. Half of what's on TV isn't even related to music in any way. I never watch much TV now anyway. |

| Ive been watcing MTV for at least 10 years now, they have like 12 channels, im sure you all have heard of them, I can't really remember what was on MTV when i was 10year old but your right it has changed, im dissapointed to see programs like to osbournes / jackass and all the usually programs taking over. The closest thing MTV play to "Trance" Is MTV Dance , which plays one decent track every hour hence pvd - nothing but you and sometimes gouryella if your very lucky 'gawd i love tenshi video " :p, anyways i have seen that they have dedicated a Channel just for gothic music ' Kerrang ! ' , Now I don't like calling other music genres as i know all about gothic music, and i dont care either, but it would be nice if mtv played something different than Justin Timberlake and Cristina ffs, they played like 50+ times a day at least, also they drop on a DJ Sammy track , and they class it as dance/trance, im not suprsied the music industry is ed. If your from the UK you might of seen POP idol, theres that girl who is really huge 'no offense to fat ppl' , and she can really sing , but because she is not a size 8 and not pretty she is told she cannot make a pop singer in the ideal world, simon cowell says anyway. How many ugly pop bands are there ? how many kids are anerixic cause they wanna be like britney and have big and nice arse they all do. Dont worry breaking beats MP3 is taking over and its here to stay. MTV are desperate for ratings which earn £££ , bands like madonna are loosing millions due to this file trading fiasco, and its funny. |

I agree. I'm sick of MTV. They spend more time promoting themselves than showing music videos. They are no longer music rebels that they were and cutting edge approached has been replaced with glitzy pop candy shell with little substance inside. Btw, I think they have been owned for a number of years by one of those giant entertainment conglomerates. |

thing is... yes, mtv is brainwashing society in a manner of speaking. unfortunately their scheme of commercializing such music is quite effective. i mean, everyone here likes some form of electronica. if you tried broadcasting that to a teen audience, not eveyrone may like it - the $hit on mtv is actually something they can relate to.
telling these ppl "that music is CRAP, how can you listen to it?" can't necessarily do anything .. since somehow, SOMEHOW, they can relate to the music. its their choice. not me or anyone else can tell someone else how to choose their lifestyle.
its jus sad how today's media world leaves little room for people growing up to make their own choices about music and everything else :( i mean the way things may be going right now ..
if you were a 10-year old kid that started getting into electronica, and showed it to your friends, and they made fun of you, chances are, you'll probably just move to MTV-stuff. thats just how society is forming ppl .. |
