Okay, but that's exactly what I'm telling you, and if you don't believe it, then you need to educate yourself on the origins of genres like rock and hip hop.
"Pop" is just a short form for "popular music"... by definition the basis of that music is image and materialist greed. But pop doesn't refer to any particular kind of music... just whatever is put out there for mass consumption.
So although I'm not disagreeing with your original post, I am asking you, what exactly is your point? That they "shouldn't" be doing what they're doing? "Shouldn't" by whose standards? I don't like it, you don't like it, but I'll bet that the MTV executives like it and their millions of audience members like it. Is this just a rant about MTV? If it is, just say so.
Yes, MTV is a brainwashing piece of . It has been ever since they aired "the real world." Unfortunately, those who realize that it's a piece of are in the minority. |

in order for dance music & the life built around it to survive in america is if it becomes commercial........
soryr guys but we ned more financial support then the underground supplies.....
i fo one would like MTV america to be like the MTV in europe where it is mostly dance music vidieos being shown.
so big deal that the whole of america will be into dance music......... the revolution is one step closer to happening if people understand us.
the underground is over with........ it was done with once barbara walters aired that ecstacy special. |

| Like mentioned above, MTV in american and MTV in europe is very different. |

MTV will play whatever makes them the most money. Hence the difference between MTV america and Europe. So if you want MTV to start playing "real" trance or whatever, then you'll have to wait until electronica becomes pop culture.
But at any rate, why all the bitching? Mtv hardly plays ANY music nowadays. |

thing is... yes, mtv is brainwashing society in a manner of speaking. unfortunately their scheme of commercializing such music is quite effective. i mean, everyone here likes some form of electronica. if you tried broadcasting that to a teen audience, not eveyrone may like it - the $hit on mtv is actually something they can relate to.
telling these ppl "that music is CRAP, how can you listen to it?" can't necessarily do anything .. since somehow, SOMEHOW, they can relate to the music. its their choice. not me or anyone else can tell someone else how to choose their lifestyle.
its jus sad how today's media world leaves little room for people growing up to make their own choices about music and everything else :( i mean the way things may be going right now ..
if you were a 10-year old kid that started getting into electronica, and showed it to your friends, and they made fun of you, chances are, you'll probably just move to MTV-stuff. thats just how society is forming ppl .. |
I agree about what your talkin about. You can change infultraitors of the mind though. For example if the rights moveent in america never had a bus boycot it would have set the movement back months or mabye years or mabye it would have never succeeded. You see, stuff like this you can change. Another example is us, right now, talking on this forum about this, might change some minds to the better. Then a bigger group will form, just of the changing of minds, towards getting rid of the greater evil. |

fair enough. it's not like i don't want it to change, i just don't see it happening. why? because the world revolves around money, whether we like it or not :/ that's the reality of it all..

maybe its our attitude about how "things just cant change because there aren't enough people making a difference" ..
i guess the main thing we can do is .. well, spread PLUR. attend parties. support the artists, buy their stuff.
after all we're all here because the community r0xx our s0xx. anything mtv-related or similar .. well, it seems just too FAKE to me. |

You must need to post stuff to think things through, because your either contradicting yourself or anwsering your own question.
I'll give you an example of rap that has a basis of wrong doing. I am very sorry for the unfortunate soles that have to go through this. Down south in america there is something called dirty south rap. This is its own style. MTV found this style and did not make this style. MTV wasn't the one who made it big either, because alot of people were affected by this style before MTV ever touched it. MTV just help make it global. Alot of this rap has to do with the excess of jewlry, material excess, in, sellin crack, and killin. It is based from the poverty of america. This is considered pretty bad moraly. MTV spreads this stuff. Who does that? Evil does, thats who. Now if your the one who reads this and thinks "Oh man, I saw the word EVIL, that has to be cool," then you need a new mind set. I'm just tryin to help you think what side are you really on. |
