I had a great night...

MIKE - is a pretty good DJ. As someone pointed out, the mixing was a little bit off at times. The volume going down, then up (did this a couple of times) was really annoying. He had some great breaks action happening. The set he played seemed to cover a few of different styles. I'm dreadfully ashamed that I missed out on hearing universal nation LOUD! Was out in the car and heard it as I was walking back.

Marco V -
Just one thing:
3rd Earth (even thought it was the marco v mix) ROCKED ME!!! Didn't pay much attention. Was too busy dealing with others' dilemmas. But I also thought i heard a track that sounded very similar to Yahel - Voyage. But my spotting skills aren't that great...

Cosmic Gate - pretty much sounded like ZOS on any other weekend...

reason y Mike found it hard to mix at times is because the sound problems that they had didnt give him much justice, but still i think he handeled it pretty well.

The only problem is that there is a lot of other sounds.. these recordings are not upto the scratch of those u get ripped off the radio, they have about 50% crowd and 50% music so there's a lot of other noises. And does anyone know of any programs that record from inputs to your soundcard so I can rip these.

i need!
i need!
i need!

any sound editing program will do? sound forge, cool edit etc.
was this recorded from the mixer? [if so, how??] or just from a microphone from ur md?

sounds like a great night.

hehehe...yeah steve...me and chris were screaming the old 'lovin it'...quite a bit durig your set (which was top notch...totally rose to the occassion)...

MIKE dropped the Tiga and Zythereyudbfdjgsjhas mix of Sunglasses at night and I almost blew!!!!
OMFG I love the way MIKE PLays.
Marco V was also pretty sweet...hard techy-trance sounds and some nice funkyier stuff too.

Holden finished it off for me....fantastic.

Firstly,

Bloody fantastic night.

Main room was a joke though, with each person with about an inch of space each. Judging by the scarce numbers in the other rooms, particularly Balance, I guess you know where all the idiots were hanging out. No offence to all you TA's, but you all know who I mean. It initially was a hard decision to decide who to see (Holden vs Marco), but I guess the crowd made the decision for me. In the end, I felt vindicated, with Holden pulling off a pulsating set. If this was anything to go by, I'm just spewing I missed his sunrise set at Earthcore last summer.

OK here's what I remember:

Holden (Nothing - Original Mix) - Damn I think we all wanted the 93mix
Nathan Fake (Outhouse)
Holden (A Break In The Clouds)
PQM (While You Sleeping - Chable)
Will Saul (CLiff - Infusion Mix)

Sound was pretty average, with the echo from the back wall quite prominant, especially for Kasey Taylor. Considering there were only about 50 people in the room at the time, the sound was just hammering staight from the speakers to the wall. Did anyone else notice this, or was it just me? It was also very hard to hear the higher trebles , particularly the distinctive "pixie melody" sequence in Chable's mix of PQM.

Biggest dissappointment was not hearing Ogenki Clinic - First Light. Praying he was going to play it, however I still havn't heard that pearler in any set.

One last bitch, where the hell were all you prog heads on Saturday anyway?

Will do this as soon as I get these 3 assignments out of the way.

Sorry mate, this time it was only a mic that I put on stage. Not the best place to record from with all those stupid gurners in the front row that I was really close to beating to death.

And Someone get me access to the stage area... I'd love to plug into the mixer. Imagine that. Steve Stragis + Tiesto 4hr sets recorded DIGITALLY live off the mixer/main amps.

Someone get me a V.I.P pass with Media access and i'll have this + if someone will let me in early i'll bring along my 5 grand video camera and get a few hours of video footage and burn it onto VCD/DVD.

High lights

The second hour of M.I.K.E.'s set.
Marco V opening with Red pill, blue pull - Junkie XL mix.
Cosmic Gate playing Igor S - Boomerang - Igor S mix.
Someone playing DJ Tiesto - Traffic (I can't remember who played it.)
Chatting with Steve Strangis (but have no memory of what was said.)

Low lights

The main room was way too small.
Volume wasn't loud enough (I could hear the crowd over the music.)
The lighting was a joke.
DJ's played in the wrong order (I think) Steve Strangis should have been after the HK tripe.
Most of Marco V's set was like BANG, BANG, BANG, breakdown, BANG, BANG, BANG, breakdown.
It didn't seem like the crowd was really getting into the music.

Last years GK kicked arse, but this year's was a bit of a disappointment.
