I've been hammering on that techno-trance sound, say the typical V-sound (as in Marco V - Loops and things for example). I mean the buildup here then :)
First of all, I don't seem te get the drum right, but that must just be a matter of tweaking and eq-ing. But the whole sound seems to be pretty complicated. I know you have to use a lot of hihats, and the bass should be pretty low...
Anyone got some tips? Would be much appreciated!

Cheers!

As with all techno compression is really important as an effect. I have been wondering about the Marco V sound as well, especially the drums are hard to get right I think. But ultra-compression on drum-loops should create these sounds. Don't ask me to make a copy of one of his tracks, it's really hard imo. But if you put more compression on your own tracks, they should begin to start like the V-Sound.

And dj-sean, thanx mate, I owe you big time!

Yeah you're right about the compression there, I'm starting to get it in the right direction. He might compress something like a snare-sound with his drums too...But I always used compression to lower the overall DB's of kick/bass down to 0. So if you use more compression, you compress with more treshold and add more gain afterwards or so?

Damn, this is a challenge! :) And respect for the V-man...

Thanks anyway mate!

Yeah, lower the threshold to let's say -20 -30 db and put the gain up until the right level. Also playing with attack and release can creat 'pumping' effects. Just practice, that's the key IMO.

Sweet! It seems to work yeah, with a bit of delay and reverb on the bass too and the right EQing. But when this tough job is done, he throws in some manic hihats and a clap or so...You reckon that's a matter of compressing too? And off course EQing...

Check this little sample...

Any of you got some idea of improving this?

Definitely compressing. The best thing IMO to do is to create some plain drumloops, with some hihats, percussion and no-bass. Tweek until you think they sound cool. Then export to wav and bring them back into your sequencer as wav files. Now compress the hell out of them. You can also use multi-band compression to compress the highs even more. Play around with the loops, slice em up and I think you will get to the sound you want.

BTW: that bassdrum really sounds a lot like Marco V's!

I really want to create a hardstyle alike reversed bass sound , like you hear for example in many songs from starsplash , special d. etc.
Is there maybe anyone who knows how to make it? or is kind enough to upload a preset or sample? :)

thanks :nervous:
Cryogenic
I'll say it: POST A SAMPLE

Do you really expect the kind and talented people here, that you ask for help and their time, to go hunt for a sample themselves, and THEN make an effort to explain or make a preset ?

No Cryo, as stated in the very first post of this thread.

Well the key here is to have a high attack on the filter. You can easily create this type of sound with for instance the Bass Station. If you have this plugin, let me know and I'll upload a sample for you.
