my shiny new numark 5000fx showed up yesterday; and compared to my old djx700, its the greatest thing ever made in the history of the universe :) special thanks to nyquist for his help & advice :) am totally in love. (with the mixer, not matt)

YAY for Paulio with the flow...

...that's the same mixer that we bought Mangler for his Birthday I do believe :happy2: its got fun dials that do crazy things when you spin them round

i love it when you talk dirty ;) think of the brightside though- your credit card wont still be full now even though you bought your tables in march of 2004 ;)

hehe, yeah. its fun to play with; even if i cant actually make it do anything consistently ;) it doesnt help that the instructions (tho basic) use plenty of terms that i dont understand. haha, such a pleb! :D

if youre a knob fiddler, the 5000 is for you!! :)
Teflon_Teapot
yeah the 5000fx is pretty sweet, the scratching wheel/function is pretty nuts but is very hard to control unless you use the wet/dry fader just like a cross-fader.

it has some pretty crazy functions that i have looked at briefly like the 2 bpm counters but to be honest i found that it made things more complicated than beatmatching the normal way. you are constantly watching the counters and they are not responsive enough to work well.

i have been playing around with the smart loop function which is alot of fun and also that you can just work the effects into the sample instead of the main track. also makes for some interesting phasing and other cool tricks, although i am still mastering them.

completely agree that the instruction manual needs to be more comprehensive but i suppose half the fun is discovering stuff yourself.

is it grounded properly? check that the grounding leads are properly connected if they are not that fuzzy sound can be produced.
Philby
well everything seems to be connected right...i can hear it in my headphones, its almost a bit distorted.

Teflon_Teapot
hmmm maybe unplug the grounding leads and connect them again sometimes it appears to be connected right but it is not, other than that i dont know without hearing the distortion.

where are those 24 hour technical support services when you need them?
Philby
ok ill try that after i'm done listening to my new tunes hehe
