Now how many of you have actually seen him live and can still come back and say this crap? Usually he gets the warmup spot so of course is going to start proggy and slow. So now to be more to the point, how many of you have seen him do a live set at peak time slot? Because I have and it was an amazing set, far far better than I have seen from Armin this year. I would gladly go see Jon O Bir; I can't say the same for Armin Van Buuren these days. |
exactly. seeing someone live is a whole different story than listen to them on the radio. the atmosphere they bring at teh venue, the way they control the crowd, much different that sitting at your computer talking on tranceaddict and listening in your headphones to the radio broadcast |

Yeah, he played @ Energy 03 in Switzerland if I'm not mistaken. I've always wanted to know how that went considering the style he has vs the style the swiss prefer (hardstyle/hardtrance). |

I think the comparison is quite unfair mainly because Jon O' Bir is famous for his excellent DJ skills where as by contrast Armin may be a good DJ, but he is by far more famous for being a top notch producer. I do not own the vinyl nor know the release date of Blue Fear by Armin, but it is the last song on my Sasha and Digweed CD : Northern Exposure 2 - Westcoast Edition from 1997. This gives you an idea of how long Armin has been doing work on this kind of music and his great dedication and experience to being a great producer. Armin's productions are spun by dj's around the world. Jon O' Bir has not even come close to this level YET.
But by contrast, I think there is definately a statement to be made of the excellent djing/mixing skills of Jon O' Bir that not many trance dj could match. |

mixing skills are not hard to attain, a lot of the amatuer djs on tranceaddict are as good if not better than him. i dont doubt that he is good, but he got a good break when he won that competition, and all power to him for doing that.
btw:
alot of people posting in here have no clue what they are talking about. but dont take that as a bad thing, it could be becuase you have never djed before |
