btw an artifact is some man made object... hiss and static are not caused by man you know..

another thing.... of many of the mp3's out there.. a great %'age of them come from vinyl to begin with... and your statement about records is purely wrong. Do you know why many audiophiles out there buy record players that cost in the 10's of thousands of dollars and needs that can cost double that (and we thought Ortifons were expensive). There is a noticable difference in audio quality when you compress a sound file by 12 times.. you lose a lot of fidelity. please please please think before you talk.

And another thing. Paul playing from final scratch. He saves (and records his vinyl) in AIFF format. A completely different lossless compression format. Not to mention if he only uses that computer as storage bin for music of his he could easily store 300+ in WAVE format. Paul does not play MP3's

Listen, if you don't know what an artifact is, then you clearly aren't qualified to be discussing this subject. An artifact is a term that EVERYONE involved with audio or signal processing knows, it's simply an unnatural element - a click, a pop, a hiss, anything that wasn't there before the transmission!

Yes, that's why they don't sound as good as the CD's!

Do some research, OK? A lot of these self-proclaimed "audiophiles" know jack and are working on hearsay from their "audiophile" friends. Vinyl loses fidelity, it is not "high fi". MP3s do not lose fidelity - data compression isn't ALWAYS lossy, and even if it is lossy, you won't be able to tell the difference if it's only 1% lossy! Most of the nonlinear attenuation in MP3s is at the highest frequencies, which you can't hear anyway.

If that's true, then my mistake - however, I have a hard time believing that absolutely none of his tracks were MP3. How do you know that, are you his manager?

Dammit, what happened to r3mix.net? Anybody know? That site had so much information on it with this stuff, I wish there was a copy somewhere.

Guys, all he did was copy his music folder and paste it or whatever, then delete the duplicate.

Either that or he's stupid as phuck.

EDIT: Don't forget, he has more than one comp = more than one HDD...

i think this is the best way. because it makes me look like i smoke too much weed. and that's cool too.

Wow, you had like what, 5 mp3's total ? Here's what a real man's mp3 folder is like ;p

hehe, running out of space. BTW, that's not all the mp3's, have about 10-20 gigs on the other drive.

I cleaned out most of my old cheesey mp3s, and I burned most of my livesets to CDR. So I only have ~5gb left.:D

Clearing up space for pr0n? Couldn't think of any other reason you would do that.
