MP3s encoded at 192 kbps or above are nearly identical to the original CD tracks in frequency spectrum.
Maybe it's your sound system that's . |

| that's ok. i also found a cute, estranged and abandoned so i had to take it to the pound too, although i really wanted to keep it. Someone needs to start a breed of cats to stay kittens FOREVER! |

no. because i'm listening to a cd and it sounds 100x better on the same system. |

Could be many things, ty encoded MP3s, ty sound card, or the psychological factor ("it has to be better because it's on CD").
Trust me, it's not the file format. |

Yes, but like I said, there are encodings.
Lots of 31337 "ripping groups" out there do one of three things:
1) Don't rip it properly, use some ty program like Audiograbber
2) Encode it with a program, like Xing
3) Steal tracks from other groups which were encoded at 160 or even 128 kbps and re-encode them at 192 kbps.
But like I said, there's also the psychological factor, there are a lot of people out there that insist that a CD sounds better but actually can't identify the original in a blind test. Although there are people who have very sensitive hearing (to high frequencies in particular), most people can't hear above 20 kHz or so. People really should be less stubborn about these things. |
