Do You believe in a godd who satisfies do you believe in a godd who opens eyes do you believe in a god who tells you lies or do you believe in me :stongue:

Seriously, it sounds corny, but music IS my religion. I don't agree with many practices of all religions, they're all faulted in their own ways, but music is something that's played a huge part in my life, without it I wouldn't have the friends I have, and they're more importantly wouldn't be who I am.

Music/Lifestyles are more than religion because you can relate to people of all 'faiths' and religions, and I've made many friends, be them jewish, christian, muslim, hindu, or other through music, and i'll be damned if religion is going to stop me like a lot of people in the world let it

So the point is...

Your religion doesn't determine what genre of music you like. Music has no boundaries...
But the lifestyle represented by some genres (and I'm not pointing the finger at Trance necessarily) is not conducive to the Christian lifestyle, be it drug use or illicit behaviour that could come out of that particular music scene.
I still love trance, I just don't do drugs or other "rave" related things.
Same can be said about any music...

I stand by my original statement, however those threads really go deserve an honourable mention. Top 3 for sure!

i rather listen to techno than believe that a man can walk on water

If thats the case then your not a christian. A christian is a person who beleives and follows the ways of Jesus Christ, hence the name CHRISTian. Hmmm... coincidence?? Don't think so. As far as the people who are "born catholic" but don't believe, then you're not a christian either. Sorry for the bursting of your bubbles but that's not just my opinion, thats the truth.

As far as this discussion goes... I'm a christian and I listen to trance more than anything. I mean, it's music people. It doesn't affect our religious views, and if it does, your putting a little too much into your music. No doubt some songs have bad messages, "I am the light that Shines... Follow Me. Children of the night, step into the light... Follow Me. Come, come from out the shadows into the light... Follow Me! Come from out of the darkness... It's a paradise...Follow Me!" - Space Frog-Follow Me. But I'm sure you can find five songs with bad messages from other genres for every song with an equally bad message in some sort of sub-genre of electronica. So it's not really that big of a deal. And if you can really let a song sway your religious beliefs, your not only naive, but you never really believed that strongly in the first place.

I call myself an Evangelical Christian but I don't like techno at all.

This has nohing to do with my religion it's just that I find it very monotonous and repetitve (guys like Laurent Garnier and Carl Cox) don't interest me at all..

Whenever you hear techno sound i dont think you will feel liek it would be played in heaven, more liek hell... you hear techno u think robots, metal boxes and such, def not somethng in heaven

One of the best producers out there, Andy Hunter, is a hardcore christian. He uses the music to help bring people closer to God. Honestly, I think trance is the closest music there is to God because its so heavenly. Wow that was a cheesy line.

erh... being an urban person, my definition of "perfect heaven" is pretty much closer to having robots playing electronic music in an abandoned factory than to living in a forest listening to birds singing and angels playing the flute :p

As for "the presence of God", I won't talk about it because I'm not a Christian and my opinion on the subject is not necessary here :)
