hahaha so after having a long discussion on irc
the quiestion remains
when organising a bbq, is it fair to ask your guests to supply their own meat? |

errr it seems like a reasonable request if you ask me. if someone is gracious enough to invite you to such a gathering, the least you could do is perhaps bring some form of meat to offer (spam doesnt count).
i remember one time, i brought spring rolls to a friends barby. i also remember a time where i was invited to more barbys before that. :confused: |

i think it depends where the bbq is held. If you invite people to your house for a bbq then the host is expected to provide the bbq basics. While there is nothing specified, guests are obliged to bring something whether it be drinks, salad or some special meat above that supplied by the host.
if it is just a bbq gathering somewhere it is everyone for themselves. |

| isn't the whole point of a bbq that it doesn't take any organising? everyone brings their own meat/drinks, all the host has to do is not run out of gas. |

if your gonna bring your own meat why not bring your own tv and sofa to watch the game
i agree with paulie its odd to bring your own meat let alone ask someone to bring their own meat. its even rougher to be asked to bring your own meat AND drinks. i dont mind bringing over some chips, drinks or even a salad but a little bit more meat wouldnt burn a hole in the hosts pocket. if you buy too much youve got meat for the rest of the week, too little you buy kfc
whenever our family goes to bbqs we bring side dishes to feed about 30 ppl but never meat (only know 1 person that does that but is never told to) |
