Video Game Consoles?
View this Thread in Original format

Ok, after a serious NHL 2003 game between 24_7 and me I think it's time for me to get a console.

I haven't owned a console since the good old SuperNES days - so I'm looking for a little advice as to which console I should go for: Xbox, PS2 or GameCube?

just head on over to Pacific Mall and you'll be set .. ;)

i just bought my little brother ps2 and he loves it, so i would go with that,
gamecube is more kid oriented from what i have seen,
plus madden 2004 for ps2 is the by far the best football game i have played, so thats go for that,

What types of games are you looking for?

Personally, I'd suggest the PS2 and/or Gamecube; you'd be pretty much set right there. A lot of the good ol'franchises that were on the SuperNES are now found on either the PS2 or Gamecube so those are your best bets imo. Xbox is great as well; but other than Halo and Project Gotham Racing, it really has little going for it in terms of game content. Most powerful or not, it really makes little difference at this point. I own a Gamecube and I can honestly say that I don't regret buying it. I wish I had more time or desire for gaming, cause I would definately wanna buy a PS2 for a few games.

Yea, I'm a video gaming geek...so if you got any more questions...ask.

PS2, RJ! :)

It's tha best. I think I've used mine some 3 times since I got it (before it came out here in Canada), but those were some good 3 times, lol. Seriously, wicked console with many uses. That's my vote.

I think I might go PS2 just so I can play GTA, Grand Turismo, NASCAR.

I like racing games, sports games and first person shooters. So I think PS2 just might be calling my name.

Well, the PS2 definately has the first 2 topped. If you're a racing/sports games fan then you can't go wrong with the PS2.

I think the Dreamcast is the best console created ever. Pound for pound it wins. It was beyond its time that it bankrupt Sega.

I just got the GC and it's good. Am trying to get Winning Eleven 6 FE, was told the best soccer game.

Get GC for vaulue. You'll have to pay for games.
Get PS2 if you like to save your money ;)
Get Xbox if you like to save your money and run linux :haha:

Wait till near Xmas, I think PS2 is going to lower their prices. GC and Xbox already doing Xmas promotions. I think the PS2 is an old machine which is overpriced. Should be valued $150 new, IMO

I think I'd have to agree with ya there. The Dreamcast was definately one of the best, if not the best. But it didn't fail because it was ahead of it's time. Sega can't run a business properly and they had to compete with Sony, which was hyping the PS2 like no tomorrow, not to mention it's been riding off the huge success of the PS1.

But yea, to this day I look at Soul Calibur for DC and I'm still in awe at those graphics.
