Why is dance music dominanted by males? (pg. 3)

because women are trendy and trance isn't trendy
and a lot of trance listeners found out about the genre from the internet, and males probably use the interweb more than females

Yeah, most of the female singers tend to look like centerfolds these days with the glitzy skimpy glamor shots. Not that I don't mind, but they do seem to draw all the attention, when in fact there's a mastermind at work creating the real music and even fixing flat vocals. Lol. But girl DJs? They're about as common as female drummers.

maybe one day a real female trance dj/producer will turn the tide for women. Maybe one day the social rejects will actually get laid by going to these events. Lets all hope. Shiet i bet one of those pioneer females might even come from TA who's fed up with all the testosterone in the scene. But im gonna have to agree that at the moment women like the cheese and the "Oh i love you, im stupid, i messed up will u take me back" RnB. Commercial tends to play peoples emotions to sell thier product. And i will also agree on the intelect issue. I find that out of all my friends...its the intelects who want find more substance in songs that they dont get from mainsteam crap. But all my lower intelect friends just babble about how original and non repetetive rap is. I dont even bother to argue with them....they just wouldnt get it.

I think in Australia we don't have the same discrepancy that you guys seem to have .. I can think straightaway of several female trance DJs (Miss Mel, Amber Savage, Bexta), though most of them spin hard trance :nervous:

However, in Sydney our main local trance night is fairly evenly split .. most of the time it's probably 65% male / %35 female, but that seems better than most of what you guys get?

Prog events get a lot more girls than trance events though, and breaks/house events get even more again....

That's because Australia has a lot more females than males. What's the ratio? 1 male to 3 females? :p lucky bastids

Instrumental art is very hard for woman to grasp they think emotions are normally expressed through words; where as men feel much different about the subject. I just think woman are becoming more & more social and men are not... that is why there is a huge gap in sex with accordance to dance music.

I completly agree with the above expect for the fact that women are becoming more social. I just think the way in which men and women express things are different. Women may do it through speech and for the most part men don't. Which may be why men don't really need the lirics. For example in most trance song with lirics, i rarelly ever listen to what the lirics are actually saying, just the tone in which is it said. Until maybe quite a bit later, when i've heard the song a dozen times. Women may listen right away. Just the way our brain imo

I find that most females are too worried about their looks and self esteem to dance to the music. My girlfriend loves it, but she refused to dance at a rave we went to. It's amazing.

They are just too worried about what others might think.

Correct me if i'm wrong.

i think for the most part women are more selfconscience then men. Because our society, espicially here in north america, have thought them from day one what they should look like. A hollywood star and the such. its all around them. where as men, we just need talent to be famous. They need talent and beauty. So I think alot grow up selfconscience about everything they do, even if they have no reason to be.

i don't think that's true at all. I spin at a club and it's usually the girls that brave the empty dance floor first. the guys always follow the girls. it's my rowd reading strategy to pick a girl in the crowd and make her dance. ;)
