US have Captured saddam?? (pg. 2)

It's nice two see that they were able to kill two birds with one stone with his capture. They've not only captured Saddam but proved definitively that big foot does in fact exist. In all seriousness, he looks like a middle eastern Charles Manson...which I guess is a pretty good analogy anyway.

i wonder who gets the $$$ reward for his capture???

It's an important development, but merely symbolic nonetheless. The attacks against coalition troops aren't going to stop (few, if any, were fighting purely in the hope of reinstating Saddan Hussein into power) nor is this capture going to reduce the antipathy held against the coalition by the average Iraqi (as one reporter from the BBC put it, from all the footage we have of celebrating Iraqis, not one shows an individual brandishing a Union Jack or the US flag).

I hope Saddam goes to trial and gets what's coming to him (so long as it's an international tribunal, not a US military one a la Guantanamo Bay) but, as I say, this is no more significant an event than the killing of Saddam's sons or the toppling of Saddam's statue. I'll be impressed when the coalition actually end the suffering, rather than killing or arresting those responsible for it prior to March 2003.

This is fantastic, wonderful news! President Bush to speak at noon Eastern time.

Also note the other HUGE story today buried by the Saddam news. It has been confirmed that Saddam trained the September 11th hijacker Mohammed Atta.

If elections were held tomorrow, yes. A year is a long time though, and much can happen from now until November 04. He could suffer the same fate as his father, but that's only if the dems have a strong candidate to face him. Dean hasn't proved himself to me, but then, Dubya said so many idiotic things and was still elected.

I don't think Dean can win. Dean for example, doesn't have a foreign-handed foreign policy, is opposed to employing IRA agents, and he owns a terrier. :D

Actually, I think Bush owns a terrier...if so, send him to Gitmo I say!
