my god.. is lord of the rings soundtrack the best soundtrack ever? I mean it gives me chills.. gives me smiles.. gives me tears... best soundtrack probably since Indiana Jones : The Last Crusade. only other soundtrack to affect me like this since Indy is maybe Abyss and Contact. After hearing LoTR and its sequels though, Abyss and Contact pale highly in comparison.

Best soundtrack since the never-made-into-a-soundtrack-soundtrack of Gustav Holst's "Planets"

And???? ;)

What about Braveheart?
Orbax
agreed, the sound track fit the movie better than I have ever heard. and that fact that its probably the most epic in terms of scope from joy to loss ever made, thats an accomplishment.
Moongoose
I like the Kill Bill soundtrack more

mezzir
you're all forgetting one: requiem for a dream
saw the movie about 6 months ago and some songs still either can give me chills or make me just feel so incredibly happy
and that's not to mention the remixed soundtrack, amazing on its own

Poncho

This guy wins

Also of note are:
Gladiator
Braveheart
LOTR (kind of) - I do like most of the soundtrack for LOTR, but at times the soundtrack was quite annoying I thought. Some of the scenes that were a little cheesy were made VERY cheesy with an overbearing soundtrack. No subtlety at all.
