| Innercity sets usually tend to be a bit harder, if you have a look at Tiestos Adelaide tracklist its mostly trance. The type of music is definetely influenced by the crowd, and as for the tiesto innercity set track #2 is an awesome production by him and I can't wait for the release. |

DJ'ing is not just about mixing...
Your mixing could put Digweed to shame, but if the songs are then it's still going to sounds like 2 tracks being mixed together and no-one will give a . How many times have you seen people say that the best DJ's read the crowds? I guarantee that 99% of punters would prefer a set of tracks that they love with a few hiccups to a set of boring tracks mixed seamlessly. |
thats what i was saying,
a set that is mixed spot on, but with tracks or the wrong tracks at the wrong time will be
if the dj is working the cround and playing tracks that work most people dont care about the mixing
how many times have you been out and you hear a mixing up and it seems 99% of people dont take any notice
a good set is one that entertains the croud !! |

I think its unfair to judge a DJ from a recorded set. After you see him over the new years, it will be interesting to see if you have the same opinions.
Personally im loving the tiesto of late, maybe its because i have a diverse taste in music, i love prog and trance but i also like my techno and tiesto covers all of these.
The techno he is playing isnt even real techno, you would rarely find the tracks he plays in a techno set, he plays tech trance. I think its great how he is playing out of the norm, he is trying something new mixing up a few genres. It might not sound the best in a 1 hour set. But if you were there live i can guarentee the room would be going off.
I lost interest in tiesto end of last year early this year but then i saw him 3 times in Europe and i was just amazed at the enegry he created in the room, it was then i realise why he was voted number 1 and i think he deserves it. He truly knows how to read a crowd and i think that is the most important thing as a DJ.
I mean its only a small minority of us who can pick up the technical aspects of a set most people who go to these events dont have a clue about whats going on, they just know the tracks they like and go a long to have a good time and tiesto dishes out this in the best possible way.
Saying PVD is spot on every set is not true, i dont like his mixing style at all and he s up a lot of his mixes also. DJs are only human and its pretty easy to stuff up a mix, most of them wouldnt be noticable when your out but so easy to pick up when recorded.
Escee this is your opinion and thats cool, looks like this thread has gone a bit nasty tho :nervous:
Oh and one more thing, this thread reminds me of one of J00Fs (this man rocks hard :p) colums where he comented on recorded sets can be a good thing in that people listen to their fav DJs were ever they are in the world, but also a bad thing cause people change opinions on a DJ over the recorded set when really it could be totally different live.
Cheers

Hehe it's all good, we're all passionate about the music that we love and are always going to defend what we think is the best. And hey, if music is all that we argue about I think we're doing pretty well, as long as it doesn't start degenerating into petty insults (I've been guilty of this lately :/)
Just becuase I love a certain style of music (or DJ, in this case) and you don't, doesn't mean I won't be your friend and respect you. |

not bash tiesto (much).
Muli, thats my complaint, the stuff he is playing is half assed techno mixed like trance. I dont like it at all, and this thread has only turned nasty if youre an english tiesto fanboy :) |
