Boa on opening night - Hex Hector & co.

So I was only at Boa for 3 hours on Sunday morning, from 5 to 8, and I've been debating whether or not to post a review, but wow. Blew my socks right off. SO worth it to check this place out! The sound is delicious... I'm going to sound like a broken record to everyone, but I didn't know sound could sound like that........... drool...

It was a night of house for me, as I had been at System earlier, and arrived @ Boa as Hex Hector was spinning, and it was SO much fun! There was a ton of room to dance, vibe was pretty jumpin' when I got there, and no line-ups anywhere. Paid 25$ to get in (which was reduced), 3$ for coat check and 5$ for water (which is also what you'll pay for all their drinks there, including Guru, Red Bull and that so-called Oxygenated water crap).

- Searching was pretty thorough, a la Guvvie (for girls), and the metal detector was an interesting touch.
- Bathrooms are unisex stalls, kinda dirty and the taps in the sinks didn't appear to be working very well in any of the 3 stalls I went in. But a really nice bathroom attendant by the name of Kevin told me to come back soon! :p
- Staff are SUPER nice, including a really cute bouncer at the front door outside ;)
- Coat check was kinda weird - it's at the back of the club so we had to walk through the crowd with our coats on, but the exit is back there so I guess it makes more sense at the end of the night
- And Ben, your wish has been granted - there are now lights at the base of each of the steps leading up through the club so you can see where you're going
- Lots of sofa space, for those who like chilling and chatting
- Sketch factor remarkably low, especially since I showed up at 5 a.m.

Oh, and did I mention the sound? and how glorious it was? If DT were to make an appearance there in April, I would die such a happy death :eyes:

I highly recommend checking this place out. Beautiful space, beautiful sound, and lots of room to dance. What more can a girl ask for? I'll be back..................

p.s. and shout-outs to tatgirl, Graham, dallastar, torontobarfly and Deko-Ze (he is SOOOOO cute!) :)

p.p.s. damn! I keep forgetting to mention things... they also have bubble machines installed above the main dance floor in front of the DJ booth. Never seen that before... and they were only used once but it was fun! And they have some lasers, but they weren't used very often. Guess it would depend on the night...

Nope, but I think I might be a promoter of bubble machines and beautiful sound though... :p

Erika, you just been to Stereo. Sound wise how does it compare to Boa? I know its very subjective, I wanted to hear your opinion.

I heard the system is the same one as Space in Ibiza.

Honestly, it sounded VERY similar to Stereo, Malek, to me anyways. I wrote up another review and that's one of the first things I said about Boa! I don't know the intricacies of sound systems, nor do I know anything about their names or features, but to hear sound like that wash over you... I knew there was a difference. It didn't seem quite as loud as Stereo either, and I could have a conversation with my friends without raising my voice too much. I think the bouncer at the door told me Boa's system generated 150,000 watts? Is that possible all you experts out there?

I think another trip to Toronto is in order for you Malek :D Brad Copeland and Sandra Collins are there on January 17th and Satoshi Tomie on February 21st. And that's all I've heard so far... other than DT rumours...

So why is that good? I mean, it's not just the number of watts that make the system, I would imagine... I seek enlightenment! :D
