When was the last time you saw him out of interest? Or heard a set broadcasted from him for that matter. He has changed his tracklist. When are people like you gonna change the record with the whole "why doesn't he change his playlist" crap. |
i saw him in november and i get live sets all the time.
he has barely changed it, he is still playing crappy songs off his new crappy album.
And he still plays NBY! that song is old and beat up like Pam anderson. I was sick of it even before reflections came out. This is what you expect from the DJ that used to floor you every single time you saw him or heard him? Me thinks not. I don't blindly follow DJs so they can make a quick buck off me. |

this looks like pvd's tracklist from 99'... only thing is, ive NEVER heard him play Gouryella - Gouryella or Carte Blanche before.. thats soo not pvd.. | Maybe if people understood what he is saying they would realize that he said that most of these tracks were requests from the Vandit Night in december, when he did not have the time to play them, hence he played them at SG. In addition, I gather that he often plays promo's that he has received and he has no clue what they are. You should hear him talk about the track he just played "and that was.. um.. well, not sure, let me take a look... oooohm.. well, someone will certainly know and put it on the tracklist"
In the end, it is a radio show on a "youth radio channel", so it isn't even supposed to be "these are the bestest trance tracks for this week". If you listen to his SG that he played the wednesday before CSD-Berlin, he plays a lot of stuff that he thinks is "famous, classic, hot" in the gay-scene.
In the end, i'd much rather listen to SG than hear "NBY" yet ANOTHER time...
I am not terribly excited to see him in February, but I am willing to give him another chance, based on his past performance.
now, time to listen to some Beyer :P |

| i havent seen pvd since last april and im probably not gonna see him next month either.. pvd's style of djing is a combination of trance, progressive house[pitched up to the max..lol], techno, breaks, some electro, and even hard house.. you gotta give it up to the guy for mixing it up with all these genres..and his mixing is one of the best ive seen/heard out of the djs that play trance... but he seemed to have lost his direction/flow of his sets.. i think that his sets in the past[pre 2002] had much better flow.. the last pvd set i really enjoyed was november 2002 @ arc.. that was 4.5hrs of pure pvd energy.. the set flowed beautifully..only thing that didnt 'fit' was when he threw on electro for about 25mins then quickly switched back to trance after he seen that ppl werent feelin it.. after this time, i havent felt his sets at all.. no build ups in his sets, promoting the out of his own album, not to mention playing mediocre tracks.. and another thing i dislike about pvd is all of his remake/rework/re-edits... yes, its tru sometimes that he makes it better than the original.. but ultimately he is making them so he can use in his sets.. meaning it is very easy to mix those in because he would make them to fit his style.. i find this not being innovative at all.. i think that using the original tracks and still finding a place to fit in your sets and making it all flow is the real way and one of the beauty of being a dj.. like someone mentioned, i think his nyc performances are too stretched out... i prefer a solid 4hr set compared to his 6hr sets that always seem to lose energy at one point or another.. he is keeping the 6+hr sets in nyc cuz thats what he used to do @ twilo.. but back then we[nyc clubbers and the states in general] were babies to the scene and the whole european sounds of dance music.. we just coulndt get enough of it.. now were more educated in terms of music and djing performances.. so i think pvd needs to step up a little more.. he was a part of creating a trance scene in nyc and thats just a beginning.. the hardest part is to maintain it.. :p |
