Why!!! (pg. 2)

I have a vestax pdx-2000 and a Technics 1200 m3d.

And I have to say I like the 1200 way more ... im soon going to get another m3d or mk5 and maybe keep the vestax. There are a bunch of things i dont like about the vestax ... i find the platter is too tall, the quarts lock is always on when it starts, and the straight tone arm doesn't feel right.

I started with a stanton str8-60 and it sucked ... the str8-150 might be good, but i really dont like the straight tone arms.

The TTX-1 has interchangeable tone arms, but i dont really see a point to the extra flashy stuff. I believe in Keep It Simple Stupid.

All the big DJs (or most) use them to the best of my knowledge. I'm sure that could have some kind of influence. I'm very happy with my Numarks...

i have tech 1200mk2's and i love em. only thing i dont like about them is the damn click.

Man other turntables suck just because Techs are just better. Stanton are awful, they are nice for the first few months then 'BOOM' all the problems start kicking in... like pitch control screw ups, sound screw ups...everything you can think of. They won't let you able beatmatch properly cause the pitch just keeps going down and up by itself by minor lengths. The turntables make buzzing sounds, it's just .

Get your Techs!

just for the record, because a million people here always use the 'straight arm' argument against the stantons... they also come with a s-shaped tonearm.

i have 'em, although they have less features & carry a different brand name (yup, OEM turntables), and i wouldn't care to trade em in for technics. Especially because they're like 100 euro cheaper each.

anyway, it's all a matter of feel & opinion i guess... i understand if technics lovers want to keep their technics, but i don't see why someone would still buy those things at such a friggin' high price.

by the way, my turntable doesnt make buzzing sounds at all, pitch control is stable as hell & i haven't had any problems yet...

But then again, i guess you're comparing the str8-30's or something to technics

I meant the turntable (stanton jobby) that converts the signal to digital and then back to analogue before the output that enables you to timestretch/compress the tune....

ie. it lets you adjust speed only and leaves the pitch unaffected...

The cd players i sometimes use have that function turned off and i cant see a need for it on vinyl to be honest.....much the same as most of the add on crap gadgets that seem to crop up nowadays

Yeah I know exactly what the "stanton jobby" :) is and there Geminis which let you shift it thus your not relying on the record being the right key and you can harmonicly mix any record into another and shift pitch and being able to shift key is very powerful. It's like changing mood, harmonic mixing does let you do that yes but key shift is another tool. By the way what does everyone think of the new Panasonic decks think they are as good as Technics? Or might be? Or are Technics still the ONLY way to go? ;)

That's why there's eBay, etc... I have Tech's for about the same or less than you payed for your Stantons, they work as good as new, came with needles/slipmats, and are completely stable. Hell, they aren't even very old.

Yeh thats the one... that model is IMO. But what can i say, it's the cheapest Stantons so no surprise... BUT then again, i would still go with Techs.

Aren't Panasonic and Technics all part of the same larger company Matsua Electric? I don't know all the details, but I'm pretty sure they're both just brand names for the same company. That would certainly explain why both always seem to produce really high quality equipment.

Edit: Psygnosis was thinking the same thing I was

the weird thing is, if you go to the Panasonic website and look at their DJ equipment, they have all technics turtables, but the latest one on there is the m3d. first off they dont even make that table anymore and they do not mention the mk5 or m5g. Plus they have the MSRP on the m3d at $750! WTF?

I guess somebody forgot up update the webpage, LIKE A YEAR AGO!

sorry i thought it was kinda funny.

Dude u can't compare those two... no , technics is better than the str8-30, duh, rofl :p

@ prodigy: 2nd hand is not really an argument... u could say my stanton-clones will be even more interesting since it doesnt have all the 'you can still ask a lot of money if you sell it 2nd hand' hype and so they will go away a lot cheaper than 2nd hand technics.
