Wow, i really like that. yeah, you can pretty much tell trance from anything, because when you listen to it you get lost in it. Its like being high without drugs in my opinion. All these kids think they need E or A to listen to trance...but i disagree, trance is my drug of choice.

yeah, just download some trance and some techno, and listen to them.. eventually i think you'll be able to feel the difference without being able to explain it.

I think the main difference, is trance is very melodic, and it has definate direction.

doesn't everyone else just HATE it when you're listening to a kick-ass trance song, and some moron is all "why are you listening to techno?" that drives me NUTS!! the thing is, most of the mainstream electronic around here is extremely GAY techno. I.E - Kylie Monogue - Can't get you out of my head, or that stupid Hamster Dance song, so when people hear anything else, they immediatly dub it as techno when really they have no clue what it is!!

:conf: Its a question of personal tastes, you can can think trance is better or on the other hand you can think techno is better.
And third option you can like both.

Ppl who say trance is better I would ask them why??¿ Because you like more...??¿

so, regardless of sexual orientation, you label Kyle Minogue as techno?

i like both trance and techno. if i'm in the right mood, they can both really get me going. however...i find that generally speaking trance is more about melodies and harmonies, and is very emotional, it's really made to tingle your mind. techno is usually hard, driving with no melody at all, very movement-oriented. imo, trance is about feeling, techno is about dancing.

Oh my god you have no idea...Theres this girl i chill with, and she's all, don't talk about all that techno crap around me or i'll like you less...okay first of all, i'm like, thats who i am, if you don't like me cause of that, then i guess you just don't like who i am...And second of all, she has never given it a chance...she thinks all techno sounds the same, she hates that constant 1234 beat. i used to as well, but then i came to love it...its about the melody...but i guess i can understand, because with her its about the rhythm...and she's not completely musically sound, so all she hears in the rythm is the beat.

Pretty good breakdown of genres actually, but the guy makes horrible grouping errors that undermine his credibility.

Case in point:

Under "Epic Trance" he has:

Ian van Dahl - Castles in the Sky
Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone
Fragma - Everytime You Need Me

he also has under this section:

Paul van Dyk - For an Angel
Kamaya Painters - Endless Wave
The Thrillseekers - Synthesia

This makes no sense at all. There are massive differences between these song examples. I've also never heard Alice Deejay and Ian van Dahl called trance before, usually the word we use for that is "CHEESE".

He actually compared the production skills of PvD, DJ Tiesto, and Steve Helstrip against ALICE ING DEEJAY.

I'm done.

both r great, but put the 2 together and you got some good music
