Well, if went and took the responsibility of judging. This contest, in essense, is for fun, but people do take to heart judge's scores and their comments. No one here is perfect, but we can't get any better unless people like yourself actually take the time to listen to them and give them the proper feedback. Even if they bore you, that's a bit shallow because as a judge and a DJ yourself, you're only looking at half of what makes the music. Admittedly, track selection is ideal, but without beat matching, harmonics and mixing, you could have the best track selection and order in the world but if you can't mix it, people are still going to be pissed off. In fact, in the spirit of this competition, 2 of the 3 marking scores are for mixing/harmonics and beat matching, which are two essential parts of any mix.

Please take the time and effort to at least mark the sets based on the criteria. If they bore you, and undoubtedly there will be sets that do that, try bear through it and add that personal note at the end, but it shouldn't affect your scoring in regards to beat matching, and should only slightly affect your scores for track selection and harmonics. The tracks may be boring, but if the DJ still took noticeable time and effort (and you notice this in the mix) to order tracks that flow together, you should still give them this credit.

You also shouldn't base the entire competition on just TWO mixes.

I have to say this was a lot tougher than I was expecting it to be, and I now have a new found respect for teachers!

ill be happy to make top 20 :D

like i said, i had lots of fun, so that's all that matters. getting decent or great scores is icing on the cake.

even played the last half of my set on the radio and got a couple of positive reviews so even that just makes me happy!

That's the spirit.I totally agree with you DjCommisad.First of all we should have fun making them and enjoy them ourselves and then the results are a welcome.I haven't played my set on my radio show as basically i'm playing every time some of these tracks.Anyway congratulations to everyone and to the judges for downloading, listening and scoring them

Yeah - it's about having fun and learning stuff. Competition improves skills quickly.

Played my mix on a CD at a houseparty and ppl liked it. No TAs there. The secret is to make sure they have some drinks first, everything sounds and looks better. :tongue2

Judges - make sure you have a drink before listening to my mix, OK? ;)
