Raves VS Clubs and other stuff

Which would you rather go to, a rave or a club?
As for me, the club scene is so much better than the
raves. Raves here happen every 2-3 months and are held
when the big boys come out, (PvD etc). For the most part
these raves are big money making schemes. They are totally
oversold which makes having a good time very hard to do.
It's also at the raves that you see the 14-year-old-out-of
control scenario, 'cause as long as you've paid for a ticket,
the age thing is let slide. The club scene here has also
reached a happy medium between the "drinking clubs" and the
"dance clubs". The dance culture does not enjoy the music or
the vibe that goes on in "drinking clubs" and vice versa, so
we tend to stay out of each others way. There is also a feeling
of being home away from home on the club scene here. There are
only 5 or 6 serious clubs here, so you quickly build up a group
of regulars that frequent these places, and it's like partying
with family. So for me, it's def the club scene. How about you? |

| i like clubs better. they are more accesible and the age thing makes a difference too. not that i don't like younger people but sometimes it is sad to see such young people soo ed up and they have no idea what is going on. clubs are also nice because you get to go more often and see the same people again and again. i like walking into a place where you know half the people there and you can talk to them. raves are on the downslide now so they are not as good as they used to be. montreal is interesting because the rave producers there try to make it not a rave but a club. no underage, heavy security and things like that. there are a lot more club people that go to these events than actual rave people. i think thats cool. if only they would stop playing only house, then it would be heaven!! |

| Without a doubt the club. Your right on saying that you do not get the out of control kids that look like they took a wrong turn heading to the PHISH show. Secondly ( not to be sexest) the girls at the clubs are so much better looking then the ones you see it the Raves and out door Festivals. The only thing that is a draw back to the clubs is you usually get stuck with listening to local DJ's spin which is not that bad, but you are always looking to hear the big names. Luckly for me living in Boston almost every weekend the Avalon will bring in a big name DJ. |

| Well Ive never been to a rave. so ill say clubs. Rave promoters around here dont get the big DJs...the club promoters do. Def Star(www.defstar.com) is one and the imperial brothers(www.imperialbrothers.com) are the other. They are currently oversaturating the scene, so all parties, no matter how good the DJ have a sour vibe...its no fun. Ahh well. I love clubs. I dance I drink I drop. I do it all. Also I think I would feel safer @ a club. I dont hafta worry bout police busting it up, and I know that anybody around is over 18.. =) |

RAAAAAAAAVES!!!!!!! :D or as we say: Houseparties :)
I luv m! I luv to come into one of hese big halls (even better if they have several halls) and see all these decorations on the wall and the ceiling :) and these HUGE sets of speakers which'll almost make you faint when you come too close to m YUMMIE! :)
I love it when they build these big stages, with platforms, in the middle of the hall, where people can climb on and get crazy and dance their asses off (see pic) [this was my first rave:]
I just think a club is too small and the quality of the music is mostly worse than on raves...it's either too loud, too shrill or too soft :S
And if you're @ a rave with all very nice peeps...the atmosphere is GREAT!!!
Like Sensation.....what a spectacle......I can't express it in words :) so you have to see for yourself next time :)

| I've never been to a rave, so I pick clubs. Not that raves are bad or anything...some raves just seem so disorganized. And all over this country, raves are known as bad things. The police breaks em up immediately, whilst when you go to clubs it's sort of unofficially "legal". |

Miss P you have no idea over here in N.America most of the raves I've been to are nothing like the pic's you posted.......an event like that here would be like a dream......The more time I spend on this forum the differences between the Euro scene and N.American scene become more and more appearent...Your parties are bigger, you tend to continue party past the age of 25 when many people here stop.(not me I'm 27), your much more tolerent of different styles and music..ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh must save money...must plan trip to Europe. I've partied in Lisbon, in the Algarve but I was only 17 at the time...10 years ago things were much different..I would love to go back maybe in the new year...

ugh, GOD, you are sooo right! I wish to god that america can loosen up and start celebrating instead of thinking and worrying and killing [well, the crime rate over here is quite high] each other! people over there in europe are much more tolerant. yup, just like a dream...hmm...I should definitely move to Europe as soon as I get out of college. |
