Why does Sydney suck so much for trance! (pg. 13)

I think getting ITM to front a trance night is a great idea....
To do things on a large scale you simply have to put your money where your mouth is. I've promoted over 150 events in NZ over the past 13 years....some of those cost $25,000 to put on...just with local DJ's. Half of that went into promo....
Maybe we all need to have a meet up and work this out.
I'm up for it
Not sure how much time I can put in as I already promote 2 nights in NZ every month, but I can sure offer my thorough knowledge on the subject ! |

You raise some interesting points. Moving from a small, intimate venue like Icebox into a huge arena type club like Arq is a big step, possibly too big. I'm just guessing here, but I would imagine Icebox has a capacity of about 300-400 people? The last few J&F nights held there have probably come close to that, say around 200-300 people?
That's a pretty good effort, but move that to a different with triple the capacity and suddenly the place isn't packed anymore, you're standing in a large, half-empty club.
This is the problem that Halcyon/Altitude experienced. They could draw an 80% of capacity crowd to the Dendy, but move it to a much larger club like Gas and the 80% falls to 50%, 40% and lower. The move was good in the short term (the first couple of parties there were massive!!), but in the long term it couldn't be sustained.
As for the straight club vs gay club issue, I don't really think many people would have an issue with it. I think you'll find that people who go for the music will still go, while the people less into the scene who just pick a club and say "lets go there" will still go.... |

That's actually a pretty good idea :)

300 max. Dendy capacity is 500-600, that's 2 rooms. Icebox is no larger then the smaller room @ Dendy (and it's generally just a smaller venue). Realistically, I'd say it's closer to high 100's mid 200's.

I'll accept your corrections :)
But with the caveat that it proves my point even more! I haven't seen Icebox packed to capacity yet, probably 150-200 people. Which is 15-20% of Arq's capacity. |

Websta:- C-Seven is the venue. It's near bridge street (near tank).
Wax...thing with so many people willing to help. The more heads in it to a certain point will be good, but having too many partners will make it impossible to get anywhere, as every1 has the same goal, but will have their own ideas and approaches of getting there. This would also have to be a registered buisness, so everyone's going to be in a partnership, sharing a bank account etc, which may or may not be an issue......
Not detering anyone, just trying to keep this balanced.
