Well as S_madis and others mentioned branding is key. We need strong brands which people recognise. That is why "A Night at Icebox" has changed names this month to "A Night of Trance". The team feels that the new name is more brandable. It is also less dependable on the individual venue. The new name displays what we are about and it is not to different from our old name so hopefully people will realise what the night is.

Josh would'nt the best way to go about this to make a Brand NAME like an easy name, e.g. Sublime with the slogan "A night of trance" etc... Its like Coke, calling it a "Can of COla" and using that as the real name. If u come up with a name but keep EVERYTHING you have, like flyer design etc.. just ad a name then people won't get confused. A night of trance may confuse people, it wont stick in their head when they think of somewhere to go, if they had a name and then the slogan it might be a better long term solution.

Just my idea :)

i wholly agree with muli here
you ask people where they are goin tonight and you get the names like sublime, cargo, globe, pontoon, gas, halcyon even. even though some of them are names of the club, they are still pretty short and stick in your mind

Im just not a fan of Darey. Take Nocturnal delight, its just rubbish trance, churned out, all cliche, nothing original whatsoever. It sounds the same as most other trance producers really.

You shine on is another example, its a pretty boring track, with boring vocals. "You shine on like everything around you, you shine on my spirit will surround you". Like most trance vocals, abolutley meaningless and only there for the high notes of the female voice, once again, getting rather cliche and boring. (and i know the tracks old)

I do own a copy of gamemaster (original) i liked that (probably willing to sell it) but yer.

Darey doesnt stand out to me like a forefront producer, I know he used to be, but now, very mediocore.

I like producers which are sounding different, like Mesh for example.

fair enough?
waXology
yeah single words are the best... catchy for sure!!! if its a phrase or sentence then its to hard to say and remember.....

Take the Darey chat elsewhere and let's keep this on-topic.

Putting all that marketing studies into good use i see.:happy2:
S_madis
I like how you have renamed the night Josh, to "A night of Trance" as opposed to "A night at the icebox". This definitely places a greater emphasis on the music, which is what people are looking for.

gumble
well maybe it is relevant.

darey displaying a current level of trance production / nights, the masses dont approve, tired of this sound, and turn to breaks and funky house as an alternative????
waXology
yeah stop hi-jacking my thead :P
