Jews Killed Jesus/Passion of the Christ

This doesnt really apply to seculars so u can either flame on, or ignore this discussion, but the new Mel Gibson movie is stirring up a huge amount of controversy because many say it is anti-semetic.
many hate groups, white sepremesists a large majority have huge hate for jews. many normal people have mixed feelings about them. but it is all stemming from the belief that Jews killed Jesus. if you "dont" think about it. yes jews did kill jesus. such a horrible crime against the almighty god. but what many christians and other people alike dont understand is that, it was God's will that Jesus be crucified. The Jews actually did God's will by having jesus crucified. if jesus hadnt died in such a way, then we would not be able to be saved, have everlasting life, or ever be accepted into heaven, because of our sinful nature and unrightiousness. we would be doomed forever, because it is only by rightiousness that we are accepted into heaven, not through good works, or just because your a good guy.
jesus died for us, so that we could be saved from this doom, and if one accepts him, becomes christian, and follows the teachings of Jesus, giving up old life, starting anew, then we are righteous before god. none of this could happen if jesus hadnt died on the cross.

maybe we should thank the jews. because all they did was unconsioussly follow God's will to save us from everlasting death. |

i don't necesarily believe in the general teachings of christianity, but yes the jews did want jesus killed.
and your right according to theology that is what is supposed to happen.
it happend along time ago. now get over it everyone gawdammit.
blaming someone who is jewish for the death of jesus is like blaming brutus's great*300 grandson for killing ceaser.

also how ing hypocritical are antisemites for blaming the jews for jesus's death. jesus is the one who called for forgiveness and turning the other cheek. as he was dieing he forgave the jewish people.
i haven't seen mel's movie, nor do i really care to. people say that his daddy was an antisemite. then it is quite possible mel has got some antisemitism in him and it rubbed off in the movie.
i wouldn't be surprised.
anyway all this controversy over his movie is getting him a load of publicity. which is more money in the bank
if he's really a great christian he'd give all his profits from the movie away to the poor.
and if he is a real man, he'd give a large portion of it to a jewish charity. |

You mad? Martyr's are people that died and stayed that way. Christians believe that Jesus Christ rose again on the 3rd day. That's the fundamental difference between Christianity and every other religion. Mohammed died, Buddha died, Confucius died....they all stayed that way but Jesus Christ did not stay that way. That's the fundamental difference. We say that he alive and well, now if you believe that or you don't, it is really up to you. I'm going to go see the Passion of Christ because I want to see how accurate Mel Gibson made it and I want to see how great it is. I don't see why the Jewish leaders are mad at this because it's historical, the jews were responsible for killing Jesus but most fail to realize that Jesus himself was Jewish as well. I mean you don't see Christians railing against Russell Crowe in his roman epic from a few yrs ago for the killing scenes of Christians. It was historically accurate as well, Nero killed Christians for fun. Now I do think if the White Supremists use this for hate....they should be shot dead and left in the street to rot. |

This together with the known fact that there were a lot of different relgious sects at the time, suggests that it is unlikely that all Jews had a united view on Jesus, or even knew of him. It is likely however that the high priests and other Jewish beaurocrats in Jerusalem did feel threatened by him, and encouraged the Roman authorities to step in. Furthermore there is the fact that Jesus, and all his disciples were Jewish. |

the jews didn't kill jesus...this is a brief overview of how history really worked...
At the time, the Roman Empire was experiencing a certain degree of freedom of religion. It is true that Christians have been pursecuted in times past and indeed in times to come, but what is certain is that the jews didn't "kill" jesus. This religious freedom worked in this way. A cult was aloud to worship in anyway they sought fit AS LONG AS THEY ALSO WORSHIPED THE TRADITIONAL GODS OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE...namely the Emperor and his personal deities. This had everything to do with the Roman's ability to maintain a legitimate control of the people.
The problem then is that Christians, being the monotheistic cult that they are, did not accept the roman emperor or other state gods as exactly that...Gods. Many of the Emperor's were willing to over look the Christians despite this fact and did nothing...THERE WAS NO OFFICIAL POLICY TOWARDS CHRISTIANS. However, when you start getting people speaking out against the roman government, preaching about how the emperor is not a true deity, and you see the population of these groups starting to grow, then you see the conflict.
This is why the Christians, in particular jesus in this instance, were from time to time persecuted or whatever...not because Jesus' buddy Judas. But of course, you religious people don't want to hear the truth and will continue to believe your religious bull as usual. |
