If there is one thing that Americans can do better than anyone else is...OVER REACT! In response to the Jackson breast bearing stunt the bush administration is now on a witch hunt to silence controversal media figures. First stop, Howard Stern. Clear Channel who has nearly a monopoly in radio, wants to play ball with the government and cancel Stern so it will continue to get favorable consideration from government regulators as it seeks expand its radio empire. Feel like the red scare of the 50's all over again, god i hate bush. :whip:

I strongly disagree. I think that Americans and just society in general (in other countries as well) have just gone to . It’s like anything goes these days and no one gives a crap. I’m sorry, but if I had a 10 year old son who was watching the Superbowl and saw Justin Timberlake rip off Janet’s top to expose her tit w/ a pastey on her nipple, I’d be pissed. And all the attention whoring stars like Madonna, Christina and Britney kissing on stage on a show that young girls watch is disgraceful too. Then they think it’s cool, and the next thing you know, your daughter is on the cover of “Girls Gone Wild”. Trust me, your views will change as an adult with kids. The entertainment world should be a bit more considerate and discrete. And as far as Howard Stern goes, yea, his show is entertaining SOMEtimes...but he is the epitome of human scum. He exploits mentally handicapped people and has these stupid whores on his shows to talk about masterbation and sex and every single taboo topic you can think of. No body has any morals anymore including Howard Stern. He’s a stupid, ugly, scrawny fcuking tool who got lucky in showbiz.

my 2 cents:tongue2

I don't agree with a lot of stuff Howard does ie making fun of handicap and other disadvantaged ppl. I only occasionally tune in for Robin doing the news, but I think he is funny and part of his stick is pushing the boundaries. So what do I do when he offends me? ... I reach for the dial and change the station! It's called the freedom of choice that's what makes this country great. As for children, sure his radio show isnt appropriate for them, but its on early in the morning when kids are either sleeping or at school. As for the jackson, while i agree it was a stupid vulgar plublicity stunt, it was on for all of 1 second and I've seen far worse stuff on MTV which is marketed and viewed by young kids.

No, that’s what makes this society crap...people are pushing the limits to our bill of rights. I don’t think freedom of the press was meant so that porno can be advertised where we please...or advertised in general!

I completely agree with you, if you don't like what your hearing there a load of other stations to put.I usually wake up when Robin is doing the news and I was pissed when I heard what happened to Howard. It bothers me that my country gets pissed about nudity and not all the violence that is shown. Howard Stern has always backed Bush so I dont see why their getting on howard for. Well Clear Channel Communications was the one who decided to get howard out But yea the administration did enforce the guidelines regarding sex.Something like shows with a strong sexual scenes canot be seen or heard from 6am to 10pm.Thats bull.In regards to what started this all the Janet Jackson "nipplegate",there were gay dancers dressed in some sort of bondage wear dancing to bad music in her performance, not to mention all the viagra commercials and the fact that people are watching one of the most violent sports in the world, and the country is offended by janets 2 second nipple peak......O well what can I do I still Love this country, but sometimes some sucks sometimes. Some other company will pick up Howard s show so it"ll be all good I guess.
Off topic
I'm sick of Bush,I voted for the real winner Al Gore 4 years ago and now I m voting for John Kerry or whoever is the democrat.
getfoul
only clear channel took him off, i still have him here. It wasnt his choice, it was clear channel saying they wanted his "dirty show" off the air on their airwaves.

I think you make or society crap. Stop bitching about stupid crap and look the other way if you don't like it. Some of us enjoy Howard Stern, Southpark, ect. Whining vaginas like you will ruin it for all of us.

The President appoints the FCC chair. His appointment is Michael Powell, Colon Powell's son. Basically he's just a whore for big media who continually supports raising the limit on the amount of newspapers, TV and radio stations that the media conglomerates can own.

5 media conglomerates control the majority of the US media, and it's downright dangerous when you consider how the media basically rubber-stamped the Iraq war. The main 3 are Viacom, AOL-Time Warner, and Disney. Clear Channel is a right-wing media conglomerate along with Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. They own the majority of the radio stations in the US.

Another good reason to get rid of Bush is because of the tremendous power that the regulatory agencies such as the FCC have, which have been filled with Bush appointments that disregard what is best for Americans. Media consolidation is a threat to America. When you control the media, you control the sheeple.

On another note, I agree Howard Stern is a prick and a low-life, but these recent moves amount to censorship of those with dissenting voices by a powerful member of the President's administration.

I'm not sure what he did to get kicked off, but I'm gussing it was pretty bad because he's been lewd and whatever else clearchannel was calling him for a long time.

Clear channel isnt siting a specific incident they're saying the whole show is offensive.

Clear channel is full of they've been broadcasting Howard for years and they never had a problem with the content until they received a call from the Bush administration. Its was no seceret what type of show it is, for clear channel to claim their new found morals as the reason for dropping the show is laughable.
