Hello guys!
i ve just red the new agnelli and nelson and sun decade reviews on djmag and they ve scored 5/5. now relaying to the enthusuastic words of tim stark i rushed to tune-inn and dancegrooves to listen to these two new "outstanding" trancers. what can i say? they were terrible sameless cheesy euro-trancers specially tailored fro teenagers with a loaf of bread!!!NO MORE EURO-CHEESE PLEAAASE!!!trance is not progressing with these crap, same style of arpeggiated synth first time heard in 97 and cheesy female vocal saying "followw me"!!!!and i hear some people saying to distinguish between proper trance(sun decade, agnelli and nelson looooool) and ian van dahl(euro-beat). sorry but for me there is no difference at all.!on the other side some new good tunes are subsphere-infinity, pete gawtry-contact future , tkac and haverlik-synthia , markus schultz-clear blue, . a big support to guys like james holden nad his border community label and other labels like "pangea". they call it progressive, for me it sounds much more trance(in a true sense of the word) than the euro-craaap. |

| holding onto nothing is head and shoulders above Follow You. The latter is one of the worst tracks I've heard this year. |

You're not cool if you don't like the same tracks everyone else does.
Tracks like Holding On To Nothing and As The Rush Comes are done to appeal to the masses and get chart success and are equally cheesy (if not more so) than Ian Van Dahl etc, yet they are considered as "trance anthems".
Double standards is the word of the day. |

| sorry to dissapoint you again but "holding on to nothing" is really terrible. the track has the same fast grooveless beat a 4-note usual trance-riff and a really TERRIBLE poppy female vocal talking crap. guys, have you been clubbing back in 98-99 when "el-nino" and stuff appeared in the rooms. now that was good with its great epic melody. 5 years later the same group is (unfortunatelly) back with a much worst usual "trancer"(if only it was), not even close to their older works. for me its just "money" now that trance is "hot" again. i think that generally trance has a problem now, 80% of new stuff is the same with the same riffs a big breakdown and sometimes vocals. the same thing from 99-2000 and melodies are much worst now. what happened to innovation, experimenation , inspiration???are these words now completely absent in this genre?is it just mindless big tunes for gatecrashers cyber-kids?(thank god it went monthly!!!)i know i ll dissapoint lots of people in here but i trully think thats how the things are. |

Sigh...People can't stop ranting about the same topic over and over as usual. I've said it millions of times before, if people would just bother to dig a little deeper and go beyond all the stale uplifting crap that gets pumped out, there's enuff experimental and different sounding trance out there. Problem is, most people don't bother and start bellowing abuse and saying trance is dead just cos Armin played another dull 2 hour set of fluff. That's like saying that hiphop is dead cos all you ever hear is the bling bling nonsense from Ja Rule and Snoop Dogg.

| yeah if u search beyond uplifting crap. unfortunately lots of people think uplifting crap to be "trance" and "armin van buuren" to be the "god". back in the day i used to listen to lots of psy-trance stuff like astral projection, transwave, ololiuqui, etnica. even if it sounds a bit childish now, i think is of much better quality than the most the terrible euro-trashers out there. now what do u exactly mean if "u search deeper", name a few projects or names that u listen to. i dont care about the points. |

Well here are some tracks that stand out for me as "different", or not your usual cookie cutter-fluff:
The Gift - Love Angel (M.I.K.E. Mix)
Paul Mendez - 2nd Skin (Geert Huinink's Crushing Mix)
Innergy - Comet Crash Test
DJ Choose & F - Comprezz
Echoplex - Def By Stereo
Mark Norman - Rush/Phantom Manor
Derb - Attack
Airwave - Lady Blue (all mixes)
AJP - Always In My Heart (Goldenscan's Final Contact Mix)
Sienna - Evoluzione
Hell even Benni Benassi - Satisfaction and Tomcraft - Loneliness could be mentioned here. So trance still has enuff of creative and different stuff going, it's just harder to find it these days among all the fluff, just like it was back in 1999.
edit: Btw, funny I didn't hear you or anyone else complain about how psy trance has comitted almost 100% creative suicide, churning out one dull effect wanking minimal tune after another until it sounds so boring and variationless that you feel like bashing your head against the wall. |
