Actually, I've been on and off in a long distance relationship for five years. I was supposed to move to Colorado to live with him in May, but plans have changed and I'm moving to Poland in June. If all goes well, he'll be following me within the next year. :) |

they usually dont work unless it is very short term. like you are moving to the same place in a couple of months or something.
but it's totally not worth it otherwise. there are tons of ppl out there who live in your area. there is no point in putting yourself through the pain and expense (phone and travel expenses) of having a long distance relationship. |

faut pas se deprimes! Mais c'est vrai qu'avoir une relation longue distance avec de nature "union libre" ca demandes que des degats; de plus a travers un ocean. Perso j'ai un pote de Bordeux ( waaaa la coincidence t'habites la bas :p ) qui vas se marries a une fille de Paris cet ete; les deux se connaisaient depuis 4+ ans et se parlais tout le temps au tel ou par email et se voyait tous les mois et quelques. Les relations longues distances ca peux marches mais ca demandes du temps :/ |

| i think about this a lot because my girlfriend is going to Africa to be in the peace corps for two years. i'm not really worried about her cheating or anything since it's africa and you can't have sex there cause of all the aids and stuff, but i'm worried that we might change as people especially her being in Africa and seeing all that stuff. oh and we've been together for about two 2.5 years now...what should i do?? |

If I were you I wouldn't worry about the "locals" but moreabout the people from the peace corps :nervous: :happy2: :happy2: ( I'm trying my best to sound encouraging :p )

As long as you both keep constant contact ... it should be all good; And above all you must decide how dedicated you want to be because before you know it a year or two will have passed and you'll be asking yourself was it worth it, for that person?! |

hehehe...well...i was a little worried about that at first too (the other peace corps people that is), but then i found out that she is gonna basically be all alone or like 15 minutes away from like a main step up...so that made me feel a little better...plus she isn't the type to cheat, but then i started to worry about like what if she got raped or something over there? that would be horrible. yeah i supposed it'll be ok, i'm just gonna miss her...and i plan on going out a couple times too so that and constant letters hehehe... |
