Here's a mix I just did up that is a little different to the typical house stuff I'm better known for. I kinda had a couple things in mind when i did it that i'd like to share:
Part of the inspiration for this mix came from Dave Pezzner, who played here in Toronto in January. The music he makes has a unique sound and feel, and has been a real breath of fresh air in the world of house music; nothing sounds like the music he makes.
At the same time, Jimpster will be playing Footwork January 26, and while his music is certainly not the same as Dave's, it's always top drawer. Jimpster's previous sets at footwork have been the best dj sets I've heard in the past year or two, and have left a lasting impression on me.
It's difficult to put into words exactly what qualities make their music so different and refreshing, but hopefully I've managed to put something together here that embodies the same unique sort of feel their music creates.
