Review: steve Lawler @system Sound Bar

WHAT a wikked packed rammed jam in their - I like the reno's but the back room you could just get high by smellin the paint! It was a little rediculous! Anyways... I am home now....
I found the DJ (steve Lawler) to go up and down with bringing the crowd in and back out again... did you find it the same? H emixed some sweet ass tracks - and it's still kickin' right about now... but i am hearing the hummmmmzzzzzzzzzzzzinger in my ears////'} oh d well////
Congrats to Jon and thanks for the numerous drinks!!!! OH DE YUM YUM! and it was splendid seeing everyong there!!!

Had a very good time indeed, great way to celebrate my 20th!!! Long as fu(k lines tho (good thing i didn't have to wait in 'em :P).
Lawler brought it hard as i knew he would, and he seriously blew me away (with bass :P. This was the first time i've seen lawler, and now i know what all the hype was about.
Saddler and Chu, with help from Sona (vancouver?) and Willar-x supplied the back room with awesome breaks all night. Seriously, as good as lawler was, i probably spent at least half the time in the breaks room.
Renovations: System looks like a totally revamped club! The mainroom's sound system is awesome now and the new open layout for the VIP room makes SS look way bigger. On the downside, i'm not a fan of the mainroom DJ booth being on the oppposite wall now. Furthermore, the backroom's layout is wierd at best (dj booth in the corner and a humongous bar that drastically reduces dancing room :( )
Shout outs to all the TA's i met/saw tonight: goodnet (ahmed?, and thanx for the phone usage!), toronto barfly (ur a cool kat), 321K13L (mad props on the event!! :crazy: :crazy: ), Ryan Parks (lookin forward to those pix!) and all whom I am forgetting :/.

First of all let me give props to ma man DJ Mute a.k.a. Chombe for a great set he played last night, :D :D even thought it was only Half an hour :( the room was bouncing.:crazy: :crazy:
But when Lawler came on man it was awesome he was better then I expected. :eek: I just wish the night didn’t have to end, :whip: but there will always be another day.

Real good night. We lineup was crazy, and it was rammed full in there. Spent most of the night in the frontroom as soon as I realized it was the same sound as main room.
Lawler was awesome, the system is awesome.
Time for sleep. |

Good to see you again AwakenedAddict and Happy Birthday!! I hid all night in the dj booth. To rammed to walk around with my equipment. Nonetheless I was able to get my photos for the night and will be available on my site as well as system soundbar's site shortly. |

Love the renovations.
The sound is WAY better.
And Steve Lawler played his best set in Toronto lastnight. IMO. EVER.

| i ing lasted till 6am then could not take it anymore. Steve Lawler certainly gave people their money's worth. Great set....mad props to all I met.....time for more sleep. |

I got to Systems around 11:30 and the lineup was insane. Stood in line for almost an hour before finally getting in. Lawler came on around 1:30 and threw down a few good tracks. I was kinda bored at first because his set lacked energy and he was taking forever to buildup his set. But once he got going he really kicked it into high gear. Everyone was going nuts. I left by 5, didn't want to but had to call it a night. Good set by Lawler!
Last night was almost as packed as Richie Hawtin but since the layout of the main room has changed it was able to accommodate more people. There are two things I don't like about the new layout. 1) The space behind the DJ booth for people to cross the room was blocked out. Very bad for crowd flow. 2) Those damn flashing lights were in my eyes the whole night. I was blinded by them many times last night. A big thanks to John as always for the reduced list. It was great seeing so many TAs in attendance. Always a pleasure partying with you guys. Special shoutouts to Chris + Joel, Mike & Jenna who I hung out with all night. You guys rock! My next party will be Guv on April 8th. Hope to see many of you there! |
