Lawler completely destroyed System last night. Then again would I ever expect anything less than that from THE UNDISPUTED KING OF FUNKY ASS SHAKIN PIMPED UP TO HOUSE MUSIC?
Nope, never. I still can't believe he dropped a 6 1/2 hour set in Toronto last night. CRAZY!!!
Lawler started off his set with one of his signature twisted re-edited to the max intros. After the intro was laid down, Lawler really got down to business and it wasn't long before he had a room full of clubbers going OFF to his music. In typical Lawler fashion he was layering accapella after accapella over some of the tightest beats. Lawler had us going mad with his choice selection of VIBED UP house tunes. From dark menacing tribal to pounding rolling basslines, to some downright funky as tunes to some hands in the air euphoric house tunes. And one can't forget all of the acid and electro infused tunes he spun as well. House music in all of its finest forms. All killer, no filler!
;)
I caught the last half hour of Coleridge's set and he was dropping some really cool tunes as well. Great warm-up for Steve, he had people bouncing and grooving on the dancefloor. I especially liked the last tune from his set, the one with the robotic kind of sounding vocals. That is such a cool record.
Tunes of the night:
- Lawler re-edit of *More Lemonade*, this track is just so completely WHACKED and that’s precisely why I love it :D
- The version of *Live Love* that Lawler spun twice last night (either Lee Cabrera mix or Lawler layering accapella over mental beat), whatever it was it sounded really good. I cant get enough of that vocal.
- that rock music like sounding tune that Lawler spun, kind of sounded like Def Leopard or some other 80's hairspray band...k no but seriously it sounded good! cool party record!
- Ending the night with *Bombdogs* (ill never get tired of this, pure dancefloor ecstasy) and *GO*, pure class!
ps. Lawler the best house DJ on the planet? U better believe it!

yay! such a good night! :D ran into tons of people, did lots of dumb things, and heard some ing great music.
the renovations look great and i haven't seen system that busy in ages. but, yet, there was still room to move. joy!
at first i thought i had hyped it up way too much in my head cos i wasn't really feeling the first bit of his set, and i was a wee bit saddened by this, but then around 3 or 4 am it became noticeably different and fabulous. he was so good that i stayed until the bitter end. from going three years without ever seeing him, to twice in 4 months, is very nice indeed.
i really have nothing else to say, except that i look positively scary in some of those pics, dallas. |

'was a good night. I went with Mako ("...br0..."). I didn't really know what to expect of Lawler (not really knowing his music), but his style of house/prog was definitely jumping. some very good EDM that I haven't really exposed myself to. Likewise, I wasn't able to recognize most tracks, but there were a few familiar sounds such as the Danny T "Elements" vocals & a mix of "Fade to Grey" (ID PLEASE!!). :D
The crowd seemed to be nice, and although slightly crowded, it wasn't hard to get a place to dance upfront. This was my first System Soundbar experience, and a rather good one at that. Only thing hindering it was my slight illness. We ended up leaving around 6:30 AM 'cause i was feeling ill & exhausted... cough/fever. :eyespop:
I felt like on Saturday but thankfully im feeling better now. Thx to Mako for goin w/me & hello to the TAs i met down there.
