Lawler again, proved why he is my favorite DJ. Fantastic set.
I felt that the crowdedness compromised my abilitiy to bust out, but moreover, I fould that the creepy/perv guy component was out in full force friday night and that for a portion of the night I was watching my back, and my friend's backs. I just felt 'off' for most of the night. I met some amazing ppl, but i found that there were a lot of ppl giving off a really agressive vibe-- very unusual for system, more common on a regular night at Guv IMO. Loser guys that get off on grabbing girls, invading their personal space, grinding etc. when they don't want it are pathetic.
shoutouts to all the wicked TA's I met/saw again.
and a special shoutout to mecure/michael:D (PM me!) |

agreed, another amazing night at system... i love the new look and feel of system, way better than how it was... deep groove and JT tore it up in the front room and built up a great vibe, too bad all of our timeslots were cut down though!
it was great to see so many TAs i haven't seen in a long time... i hope to see you all again soon when i play a 3hr set at system as a going away party!!
 |

it was a remix of Def Leopard - Photograph
and he played it late in the night (like around 6:30) |

HAHAAHHA, yes thats it. What a voice!
I heard that song in a commercial on TV a month or two ago , and im sure if heard it on BBC a few times before. I always thought she was saying "after love". Anyway, great mixing of that tune last night. Great song. |

Ok, time for a more proper review.
I was anticipating this night for about a week prior to it. The excitement was slowly building up, that by friday I was ready to explode. When we finally got to System around 10:30; the lineup was HUGE, for that time especially. And the guestlist line was moving very very slowly. Thats really the only complaint I have about the night cause from the moment I stepped into the actual club, it all started going uphill.
First thing that I noticed was how great the club looks now, I love the upper level where the VIP room used to be. Overall I think System is now one of the nicer clubs I've been to, with a very impressive soundsystem. Everything from the way the DJ booth is setup, to the visual look of the rest of the club drips with style, imo.
Ok, now for the party itself. Matt Coleridge did an amazing job of warming the crowd up. His track selection prior to a DJ like Lawler was great (and I loved his little act there when one of the records kept skipping!). The vibe was one of the best vibes in a club; definately tops any party at Guv as far as I can remember. A lot of serious partiers. And when Lawler finally stepped up to the decks, thats when the club really went crazy. From his very intro, to the end, he had a tight grip on me, and almost everyone else, and weaved us into a rollercoaster ride of some of the dirtiest, grooviest house music. A little tribal here and there, but thumpin' all the way through.
As always, partying with the TA's is what makes the night complete. It's been great tearin' up the dancefloor with you guys!
And a shoutout to Jennypie, Techno Addict and Highroller; tearing it up with you guys was awesome
This will definately be in the running for party of the year. |

it was unbearable!!!! the traffic on the dancefloor was maddening!! there was not 5 seconds i could get into dancing before someone rammed into me!! but hard!!! kept getting elbowed in the head, stomach and chest ... and not one apologizing!! i don't know what was up with the crowd but the gina's were the worst, imo!! thank god they all left around 5, so that the party could finally begin!! and steve lawler certainly delivered .... :eyes:
i am SOOO happy that he's taken on his bi-monthly residency at system again!!! i need mooorre!!!! :eyes: :tongue3 :p
on a more pleasant note ~ the set-up of the club and the dj booth is perfect now, the lighting as well, sound is good, but only in comparison as to what it was before ... but supposedly it's not all installed yet ...!
in overall, i was really impressed with the improvements! the staff was super nice and the overall atmosphere was cozy! i finally found my niche to dance and get lost in ... :D
great partying with all the TA's!! it's always a party with you guys!!! :p |

| all i saw was idiots grabbing women's asses for no reason. A damn shame what has happened with things these days. I bet it was the same guy, cuz I saw this one guy grab a few asses and nearly get his ass beat a few times. |

I had a really good time, once we got inside. The one downside was the over-an-hour long wait in the lineup - and here I thought I was getting there early at 10.30.
Made it in by about 11.45 and things got steadily better. Loved the look of the club, and so different from just last week. I was disappointed to miss a lot of Matt's opening set, but what I caught was amazing; tight mixing and the programming caught the mood of the night perfectly, dark and intense with some dirty bass thrown in. I'd never seen Lawler live before, and while the full (almost 7-hour) set wasn't as dirty and twisted as I was expecting, I have no complaints. The music was still very good and kept me on the dancefloor (mosh pit) for hours, right up to the end, in fact.
I thought the vibe of the crowd was really friendly, but that might have been from the fact that I spent almost all my time dancing/talking with the many cool people I already know. After we left a few of my friends complained about ass-grabbing and creepy staring guys, too. It was great starting to get to know some of the TAs a little better. My brain's still a little low on processing power, and I met and talked to so many cool people I'm sure I'll forget some (apologies).

:) Thanks Tara, that's so sweet. It was really nice getting a chance to talk at length with you and Matt, you're both very cool.
Nice to meet Bryn and James, in passing. Great to see Max, as always. I had a wonderful time talking to Erika, and meeting Colin.
And the friends I went with (none of whom, I think, are on TranceAddict) were terrific, but that goes without saying. I love System and almost always have a great time. I'll now be taking a much needed break for the next few weeks. And then on to Decadence. |

Aaaaarghh... I've got the worst cold EVAR!
:) Great night at Lawler, though. I really like the new layout, and the renovations give the place a classier feel. Very nice indeed. We got there fairly early, so we missed most of the MASSIVE line... got to plan ahead people!
I saw Lawler back in November, and I think he blew that set away. The sound system DEFINITELY sounds better too, It was pretty loud, but i found that I didn't get the same ringing as at the Guv/KH. Good airflow too, at times I was actually a little chilly! I had a chance to people-watch for part of the night too, and I found that the "sketch" factor was very low. One of the major reasons I like SS sooo much. I think Ben mentioned the lights, they were a little annoying, they probably need to be angled UP a little... but the place really looked great.
Thanks to John for the Guestlist, you never fail to provide, brutha.
Special thanks to the crew, my PartyChildren were out in full force.
Also a thank you to the new faces I met. Michael, and Mucopus, great chatting with you both. Anyone whom I haven't mentioned, hi2U2! :) Graet night folks, let's keep the vibe going. |
