Frankly there's much more to talk about on MD than just whether you like a track or not. MD serves as discussion vehicle to analyze current and past trends in electronic music history, discern the different movements and genres, and get an appropiate idea of the development path of evolution that a certain artist/genre/movement is taking.
Not to mention that it also serves an educational purpose because you have people posting that are more knowledgeable about a specific area of music, helping to lead a discussion in a proper way where everyone can learn a thing or two. This is informal musicology that takes place in MD, and I guess it's not everyone's cup of tea but there are certainly things to talk about.
The problems I have with MD are actually the same problems I have with this forum. It's an issue of subjective relativism vs. absolute truths, and I just can't stand when people talk about music as if it were a sport, where you could assess with numbers whether a certain artist is good or bad and that's the absolute truth whether you agree or not. I hate 95% of trance, I love Tiesto, I like PvD, I dislike Armin and Ferry. Other people hate Tiesto and love Armin, love trance and hate techno and prog. Who's to say whether a person's taste is correct and that's just the way it is? A lot of people on TA think they have a right to make those sort of claims.
Underage MP3 kiddies are also part of the problem because they lower the quality of discussion and debate. |

Don't count on that. Count on each and every one of us ripping apart every statement you make and giving you a paragraph per sentence you make to explain to you why you are incorrect. In fact, don't bother posting if you don't have legitamate resources. Just a helping fact.
I post in this forum simply because I like to test my intelligence. I love recieving an education along with actual discussions. If I am wrong about something, I'd like to be corrected, for otherwise I shall never learn from my mistakes (though I normally won't show it :p).
There are a lot of days where I simply can no longer endure the senselessness of certain forums and certain individuals. Nothing is more irritating when someone attempts to post a thread which required a lot of thought and is actually looking for a discussion and someone posts something out of their ass in a desperate attempt to be comical or to seem like a smartass. Simply, such things do not amuse me.
Nor do people who assume they know who I am and make comments attempting to sum up the type of person I am based on a few posts.
I used to roam in local forums often, but simply put, I have lost patience for certain individuals as well. It seems as though some people have no hope, they simply cannot participate in an actual conversation other than "OMG I GOT THIS VINYL TODAY ISN'T IT SO AWESOME?!?!" or "HOLY I GOT SO SLOSHED LAST NIGHT".
There are quite a few news sites I read regularly, and I read this forum multiple times a day. I have had discussions based on topics in this forum with PF debaters outside of this forum when there has been a feeling of need to continue on an argument based soley on opinions of other individuals.
There are certain individuals that I attempt to talk to as often as possible about current events that are regular PF posters, but they seem to have a problem logging on to MSN. :whip: (yes Dave, I'm talking to you!!)
I listen to EDM about 75 percent of the time, and I regularly go to EDM events in my area. However, that doesn't mean I have an obligation to sit in MD or COR and bull about what colour my toenails happen to be this week.

Actually, perhaps you should take another glance at the beginning post. I do believe Dmatrox was inquiring as to why we post merely in this subforum and no other. I was giving my explanation, as many others have chosen to do so. And considering this thread was created on the basis of a debate as to why political forum addicts tend to not stray too far away from our subroum, I do believe my post was in the margin of what it should be. Actually, if you would like to criticise my posts, please refer to other posters who have blatantly stated the same facts. Kthxbye. |

The person that inspiring me to make this thread was someone that had 99.9% posts in this area of the forum :p and he still hasnt posted in here lol.
Personally i like the COR cause its really silly. It just makes my day. |

yeah i've noticed that person too and it strikes me as rather odd. i think the U.S. government has employees roaming the forums all over the web and spreading their propaganda. my state govt. certainly does that, but it's just a conspiracy theory so i'm not pointing any fingers. :p |
