Max Graham as a top40 DJ?

| So I remember reading somewhere that Max Graham started off as a top40 DJ. Can anyone confirm/deny this with some authority? |

"Canadian DJ Max Graham started as a cut and scratch DJ before he switched to the genre of trance and progressive house. Starting at the turntables in 1986 at 15, Graham went from cut and scratch to house, at a time when house music was going through a renaissance period."
According to Discogs
I am not sure I would say "cut and scratch" = Top 40.
Perhaps there was a time when he was, I do not really know. |

I like Max Graham, and that's cool.
Shows the man is open to new ideas and adapting.
Along the same lines, that DMC turntablist battle was once a house thing ;) and now some notables like DJ Craze have mixed up hip hop and drum 'n' bass/jungle in it. That to me is exciting, literally mixing and matching. |

I know you probably didn't think of it this way, but does it matter?
Most of the current top DJ's were probably into urabn/hip-hip/rap before they got into electronica, seeing how EDM is fairly new compared to those.
Most people are just turntablists, anything they can get their hands on they're gonna spin. And like aspergian said, variety is the key. |

| Max Graham sometimes answers posts on his own forum at his website... so maybe get it straight from the horse's mouth (I mean that in a good way of course). :) |

| He mixes quite well, the only time I ever saw him was 2002 but he leads off after Sander Kleinenberg with 5 mins of scratching records (he was setting the levels to his liking while he did that). The man had MAD SKILLZ!!!!!! |
