There were 3 of us on the 400Hwy north bound; I trailed a mile or so behind only because they were my blockers... :p

oh yea....to Barrie in 35 min...
I got that one topped at 31 min :p

What I am saying is do it in a controlled environment, with proper equipment (not some beat up box) and only after proper training.

Putting random people at risk isn't acceptable in my books. I'm fortune that the other two family members walked away with only deep tissue bruising and concusions.
I'm sorry to hear that. Just so you know, i only went at the top speed when there weren't any cars around me and slowed down to pass the occasional group.

I'm with Sarah...maybe for a different reason though ;) I have little problem with speeding...or seeing how fast you can go...but it's all about WHERE and WHEN it's done. Hearing people go 200+ weaving through highway traffic...that pisses me off.

I'm a serious car freak and I don't know what the big deal with top speed is. You're rarely, if ever, going to drive that fast and you're rarely going to be in a place where it's "safe" to do so.

Having said that...it's still fun to see what your car can do...I hit 180km/h on a deserted stretch of 401 in my first car, many years ago...a '94 FORD ESCORT, hahaha. Held up remarkably well at that speed too.

I went up past that (again, deserted highway) in the Talon TSi AWD that I sold late last year...nothing too crazy, but upped to 15psi with custom 3" intake and exhaust, among other things, it was a fun car to drive. ty fueling made it knock at high speeds and RPMs though and I sold it before I ever had it tuned properly.

250-255kph in a Prelude... speedometer only goes to 240 but that is @7400rpm, and I went past 8000.

...did it on hwy400 south stretch between 7 and 401 @ about 4am about 3 years ago just after they finished repaving the whole thing... one time is all u need to get the curiousity out of you - although I wouldn't recommend it now - even on a completely empty road late at night - since all it takes is one bad pothole to blow your tire and send you into a guardrail.

only time i've been in a car faster than 120kmh is that weekend when we had to test all the cars we just finnished building for a competition a neibhouring garage had. i used to work in this exotic/performance workshop. I disagree with ppl that speed on highways cuz i highway wasn't designed to handle such speed. Given the construction of the highway and the materials used to pave it, i wouldn't recomend anyone go faster than 150-180 range. all it really takes is a small stone to change all your momentum.

and durring a corner, all it takes is a penny to send a car skidding. tracks are much differnt. the type of asphalt used is much much higher grade.

SO track is good, street is bad...

I was a passenger in a new 2004 jaguar XKR, 255 km/h, only did it on a short strech of road with no one around. Sweet car though, the supercharger gives it awesome pick up over 100 km/h. I myself will never speed over 140 again, got a ticket on the new 169 up north late one night going 145, got lucky, he bumped it down to 115, but I cant afford another one or insurance will kill me. Speeding is not worth it. So many people I know have either lost there license or cant afford insurance because of it. Also unfortunate accidents and putting others in danger, but these normally happen with people who dont know how to handle the vehicle and are driving in wrong conditions or heavy traffic.

I can't believe some of you...empathizing with how that girl's friends must feel now after being so negligent...and here you are, risking the lives of other people, moreso.

While I tend to agree with you on this issue, you're such an old bitty.
