in spite of dyk's evolution my admiration
for him will always last since i know what
he is/was capable of and the numerous
moments his music made me feel so in
touch with my emotions ...
his music epitomized what i was waiting
for long time frustrated with rampant
tecno and dramatic house in the 90's
his fusion of melody and elements from
other genres captured my imagination
and for this he will have my everlasting
respect
an artist is always in search of self
discovery so making comparisons with
previous productions or works is trivial
life is full of change, nothing is static an
artist reacts to her/his environment thus
expect new and better things to come
saludos,
;) |

Very, Very, Very well put. What was back then shouldn't be compared to what's now. The music has morphed into a style of music drastically different from back in the day. Take Rap for example, Do you think the music that's out now is anywhere near as good as it was in '91 til '97? Hell no. I use to listen to rap(Biggie, Wu-Tang, Tupac,Onyx you get the jist) a million times more often than I do now. The only rap that I can tolerate is Eminem. It just seemed to have changed for the worse. I don't see this genre of music doing the same thing. I don't think that Trance/House or any other "electronic" music is better now than it was then. Both time periods of music had they're own style. You just can't compare the song "derb" to "Traffic or Crush" The only similarity between them is that when they come on(or came on) just about everyone in the club goes or went nuts. I do think that, for the most part, the quality of the music being made now is not as good as say, 3years ago. |

Technical I mean dj skills. MIXING, track selection making people dance.... Tiesto just plays a bunch of big tunes. Most overated dj, I've seen him up really bad (mixing 2 of his own tracks mind you) and I've only seen him 3 times, PVD 18 times, never heard him up badly, noticably.
PVD rocks the music a lot better than any trance dj when he wants to works it, brings more nrg, most other dj's especially tiesto are flat as . If anyone here disagrees with me well then i need to sit down with you and explain to you what mixing is....vagina?? |
all he does is match beats of tracks that he reworked 70 times over. Bores me, DJs need to start spicing up their mixes, and also have to stop putting in songs from their waste of $$ albums (reflections).
All pvd is doing is getting a big fat paycheck off you guys. |

| I agree production has gone down it peaked in 99. PVD is so good because his timing is better than any dj, even back in 2000 (when i first saw him), before he reworked as many tracks as he does) he still mixed better than tiesto. But his track selection has fallen off, not what he used to be, but that's partyly b/c of all the fresh sick tunes that were coming out then. I won't be seeing him again for awhile, so he's not taking my money. |
