| No offense, and I think I'm in the minority here, but I can't stand a single Markus Schulz Coldharbour Remix. I've listened to a bunch and they all sound really bad. :/ |

Yup, you're in the minority. |

| Pretty good album, I've been jamming out to CD2 for about a week now. It doesn't beat Balance 005 Mixed by James Holden though, I still can't get over how great those 2 CDs are. |

You're not the only one.
I just heard the CD. I'm sorry, but i really don't like this at all. Can you say McProg? Some of the tunes are nice, but most sound to me like they're barely danceable. This contemporary melodic prog thing has a certain kitsch that you have to work around to make it work, like Holden brilliantly did in Balance 005 or what Sasha does whenever he gets his melodic side going. But Markus unfortunately is like the dance music dj version of Yanni. Too many souless generic new age melodies with a half-hearted intent to create the uplifting buildup-breakdown structure..... it simply doesn't work. just my 2 cents... |

THAT'S IT!!!
I thought so long on what to call the genre G&D and Schulz are crafting. That's perfect! |

I think I know where you guys are getting at.
To me Markus is right in the middle. Not you're underground "mind , programming" DJ, but not your mainstream "dance till you drop" whore either. I just think he wanted to make an album for his dedicated listeners to sit back, and enjoy. Nothing to really kick their ass, or make them dance. Just a nice collection of tracks that are HIS style.
I enjoy it a lot and hope he makes another some time soon :D |

ROFL. I should definitely copyright it.
Yeah, I thought that up last Saturday when I was seeing G&D in New York. It had me thinking for a while about how they've helped develop this weird take in combining prog and trance. And I got really confused, because so many of these tracks did not make me move and I was feeling nothing. Then I went to see Danny Howells right away and whoa what a difference.
I'm usually no G & D or Markus hater, I actually hyped G & D ever since early 2002 and I still love some of their productions. But I don't know....McProg it is. ;) |
