I meant Armins collabs w/ Tiesto (Kamaya Painters) sorry. Dumb mistake.

uh... armin is not part of kamaya painters. Kamaya Painters = M. B. De Goeij + Tijs Verwest.

please get your facts straight. dumb mistake indeed.

Remixes...

Armins remixes far surpass those of PvD's. And by the way where did I say that PvD isn't a good producer? I never compared Armin or PvD's production talents. But I am more partial to Armin's productions that PvD's.

LMAO...

Armada vs. Vandit vs. Black Hole

The ultimate label war!

lol...this guy is classic.

Armin gets my vote for remixes, PvD pwns him in original productions though.

PvD also has more of a variety in his sets, when he wants to of course :whip:

lol, just because you disclaim that your opinion is not an opinion does not make it any less of one.

right here! i love armin his mixing is flawless and his productions arent bad either. :D

IMO neither Armin nor PVD deserve to be number 1. IMO Marco V should be number 1.

As long as the djmag top100 list is a popularity contest names like pvd and armin will be on top.

W T F? YOU'RE FIRED!

you've obviously never seen PvD live.. to say he's more of a producer than a Dj? most people here try to bash PvD for his productions but live? he's in a league of his own. he OWNS the tracks when he plays them live. tiesto and armin are "just playing records" compared to PvD my friend.

..a "mix comp"?

PvD does not sell out with the mix comps like tiesto and armin because he doesn't believe in them. How can you choose the right tracks without an audience? He has to feed off the crowd to choose the tracks. He's the true Dj my friend.

Boundaries Of Imagination

004 Transparance
Basic Instinct
A State Of Trance 2004

His live sets...

Armin Van Buuren - Live @ Club Eau The Hague (10-26-2002) 7 HOURS!
Armin Van Buuren - Live @ Sensation White 2003
Armin Van Buuren - Live @ Sublime (1-23-2004)
Armin Van Buuren - Live @ Extrema (1-27-2001)

Not to mention his productions (just to name a few)...

Communication
Burned w/ Desire
Yet Another Day
Walhalla & Tenshi (+ other collabs)

He's also made MANY great remixes...

He has "A State Of Trance" every Thursday...

He's a fan of great music and a true fan of the fans!

Armin van Buuren can mix well, can produce even better, can put together a great set and is a great DJ personality...PvD is just Eh to me. PvD is more of a producer than a DJ, whens the last time he released a ing mix comp?

I dunno, I definetly think Armin should be ahead of PvD.

But the DJ Top 100 is a bunch of CRAP anyway...man a lot of those DJ's should be much higher and a lot of them should be a lot lower. Why the is Oakenfold still in the top 10? He needs to be in the top 20 at least!

I totally agree with you! has anyone heard an old remix of his? Gouryella? I loved that on, and i think he is still the best remixer around:happy2:
Dan1584
WOW, I'm just not getting any better am I? I always keep thinking that Armin & Tiesto had a project together, and for some reason I thought it was either Kamaya Painters or Gouryella...but then I realized Kamaya Painters was w/ De Goeij and Gouryella was with Ferry Corsten...I don't know why I keep getting confused.

Anyway...sorry about both mistakes.

#1 I have seen BOTH Tiesto & Paul van Dyk live, recently actually, and a year ago...both times at the Ultra Dance Festival. Ultra 5 was PvD's year at the show, but this year Tiesto blew him away. But since WHEN are we comparing Tiesto & PvD? This is a discussion about Armin van Buuren...

Lol...John Digweed & Sasha are TRUE DJ's my friend and NOT ONLY can they entertain a crowd (for years upon years) live but they have also been acclaimed for their contributions to mix comps...are they not true DJ's? Your friend PvD can't compare to Sasha, Digweed, Nick Warren, and the REAL top DJ's in the world...not the "cream of the crop" most popular that gets posted in the DJ Mag's Top 100. You wanna talk about classic skills, go look at Digweed's "Bedrock" album along w/ any of his Global Undergrounds and not to mention Sasha's "Airdrawndagger" and his Global Undergrounds (which have won awards I might add)...they play real music and not cheese vocal crap like Noemi - "You (Mezziah Mix)"...

Armin may be mellow and not have as much variety but he plays warm trance that's melodic and uplifting...

That set still stands up to any PvD set that I have either matching it or beating it, no matter how much variety.

Were all talking about who should have the top 3 spots, well honestly if we are basing this on real skills PvD, Tiesto & Armin don't belong in the top 3...the top 10 yes, top 3 no. But like some have already said already this crap is just a popularity vote it has nothing to do with class, style and skill...if it were the top 10 would be full of a lot more top class DJ's.

PvD, Tiesto & Armin are like the "pop" stars of the DJ world, they keep making all the money because they play the crowd pleasing stuff (which is fine) but they don't dive into the real depth of EDM, they just like to take the easy road and float on the easy to digest superficial side of it...just my 2 cents.

To me Armin is the one who just plays the crowd pleasing stuff. PvD on the other hand finds the most obscure songs and makes them popular. Real depth? When PvD spins he goes many genres of EDM from trance, breaks, prog, electro, techno... Armin on the other hand is pretty much all the popular trance and prog songs. Seriously.. look at many of the PvD tracklists and look at how many songs need to be ID'd most of the time. Whereas with Armin you can pretty much ID every single song cuz he just plays whatever he plays on his ASOT.
