Don't know if this was in the making before or after Operation Candi Box, but ABC's World News Tonight with Peter Jennings is reporting on "Ecstasy rising" - Click here for more deets
I don't get cable so let me know how biased (or not) his reporting goes! Can't be any worse than someone referring to E as "death pills" on CBC last night. |

It's growing more than any other illegal drug in the United States and in the last year alone, the number of eighth-graders who used Ecstasy at least once jumped 82 percent.

You may laugh and make snide remarks about how the media dramatises the effects of regular ecstasy use, but the truth is that there have not been enough studies to prove or disprove the suggested long term consequences.
I, for one, am concerned about the damage I did to myself when I was using it almost weekly several years ago.
I can't imagine the damage that could be done to teenagers whose brains are still developing. |

yes yes...i am aware of all that. (that's old news!) and i am informed! ... i am laughing at how distorted and dramatized the news about E are!
there is a difference - i was not laughing about the EFFECTS of regular drug use, but of what the media is making it out to be without enuf information and research! once again - it's pure unsubstantiated brainwashing of society! |

I couldn't agree with you more Skipper. And I agree that it's a VERY scary thought. I've done my research and don't underestimate the degree of uncertainty that surrounds long-terms effects of E on the human body.
However, I do find the media's choice of expressions at times amusing, such as the reference about "death pills" and the like. They're good at fear-mongering and blowing things way out of proportion and I find that approach makes them lose credibility in my eyes. |
