How did your EDM taste evolve?

For me:

Any kind of trance

hard trance hardstyle

tech trance

techno

tribal techno

tribal, tech house, progressive techno

progressive house

currently i enjoy progressive (all kinds, including trance), tribal, tech house, techno (all kinds) (in that order).

what about you guys?

Mine didn't "evolve", personally I find that term pretentious. They just expanded. Started off with old school house, trance, and hardcore, after a while dropped the hardcore and moved to jungle, then included breaks and techno and newer house. So basically now they include everything but prog. :p

"It all began in Africa-ca-ca-ca" - Chemical Bros... started out listening them and others like Prodigy and Crystal Method. Then came techno, happy hardcore, trance, tech-trance and now my fav is prog. But techno is a close 2nd. :)

Euro (when I was really young :D)
> 'prodigy' kind of edm
> industrial (some edm there)
> trance
> hardtrance, hardstyle
> tech house
now, prog and tribal house.
I also enjoy trance at big clubs (only) like guv/kool haus (leaving in a couple of hours ;)

i started out with chem bros., prodigy, apollo 440, crystal method (damn i should be at guv tonight:whip:)

then good ol BT came along with flaming june...video tripped me out on the spot....then came along atb, so on and so forth..and i started liking what was told to me was techno....

anyways... while i was being introduced to trance, i had a strong liking for house(still do)..stuff from roger sanchez, armand van helden etc etc.

so trance and hosue my primary EDM stylez by 99 and some chillout too

then came along my buddy who said "dood have u heard of this called Goa Trance??" and by early 2000 i was listening to Goa as well (IM being my favourite)

getting bored of the usual trance synths, thanks to people like infinity high, DJ MG and blue neon, i slowly started really getting deep into prog (all kinds) and now im a prog and breaks whore

i still love oldskool trance but most of the new stuff out there just doesnt appeal no more....

- radio style euro/freestyle (high school)
- circuit house (diva)
- trance (briefly)
- techno

yup, that's it.

My journey into EDM began shamelessly with Freestyle, yes the king Stevie B himself. :toothless :stongue: So deep into freestyle that my friends refered to me as "chino" since I'm chinese and a lot of my friends were ginos.

After that lovefest, it was all the cheesy eurodance I could get my paws on. No joke. LOL.

Then it gets even better, went to a club and heard Sandstorm. How's that for a resume of EDM so far? :haha: :haha: :haha:

but yeah, it was from there that my tastes evolved when I wanted to learn more about electronica. Some friends tried to get me into dnb and industrial but it really caught on with me. I did like dnb for a bit.

but it was

trance, tech trance
house, disco house, tribal house, progressive house, tech house
hardstyle and then techno

but it has evolved into full blown psytrance and goa now for me.

For the past almost 2 years now I've been listening to nothing but goa and psy. I just can't seem to get enough of it and just listened to it exclusively now. I currently have a library of more goa and psy tracks than any other genre of music and every music I've ever owned combined and that's scary.

So yeah, it started with Stevie B and now has evolved into Goa. It might actually end with Goa because no other genre makes me feel as good as goa and psy does when blow my speakers up.

i used to listen to triphop and new age. Eventually i came across Prodigy and then later on Crystal Method, Apollo 440, Utah Saints and then i came upon trance in the early 98 era. I've been hooked ever since.

now my taste is anything and everything in EDM. depending on how i feel. Mostly prog, trance, prog house, tribal house, hardtrance/acid, tribal techno...

Looks like it all started with Prodigy and the dust brothers.

prodigy will always be the best electronic-punk group ever!
